Report about our IH Vienna #meetup last Monday

I'm co-hosting the monthly Indie Hackers Vienna (Austria) meetup with @cloogshicer. We had our last meetup on Monday, in a nice Viennese pub. Our monthly meetups have been taking place since about a year or so. Attendance is usually between 2 and 15 people. Last Monday, we were about 15.

What was very cool was that the meetup was so international. We only had very few people from Vienna. Everybody else was from Germany, the Czech Republic, Finland or the US. (I don't think we had someone from Slovakia this time; But in past meetups that was the case. Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, is only an hour's drive away from Vienna after all).

Most of the attendees were software engineers (as usual), but we also had some people from a business background, one lawyer and one engineer. One thing that's a bit sad is that it's all guys; We've never had a female Indie Hacker attend.

What was really cool was that this time a 14 year old attended. He's learning to program, and is taking a tutorial about deep learning now. He told us about his idea for an app that makes it easier to order coffee in busy cities such as New York. Very impressive for him to attend!

We talked about marketing, and generally dreams and hopes of indie hacking. No one except me seemed to derive their full-time income from indie hacking (yet!). This is quite common. Most attendees of our meetups usually are at some stage before product-market fit.
