Reporters are leaving newsrooms for newsletters, their own ‘mini media empire’

Interested in seeing how the quality of journalism changes without a more one-to-one feel. Only a handful of emails/publications that I feel are worth paying $$ for.
Makes me wonder if Washington Post is generating any income from substack.
To be honest, it’s just not that surprising.
Journalists making money from serving people with specific needs/interests makes absolute sense.
This is the ‘decentralisation’ / disintermediation that we’ve seen in other areas, such as crypto, music and and independent software.
I already signed up to over 20 news letters just last month. It's going to be too many newsletters very soon! Almost all of them are paid news letters too. It's not possible for one to pay for so many news letters.
