Research on Mastermind/peer groups

Hey fellow Indie Hackers!

I'm currently doing some research on Mastermind/peer groups so I can write an article / make a video about the topic on my YT channel.

If you have any experience with those groups whatsoever -- would you be willing to chat with me for 30 minutes about it?

Will definitely pay forward any help I get! :-)

What do you want to know?

A variety of questions such as:

      1. Out of all the masterminds you've been a part of, which one did you like the most and why?
      2. Why Masterminds as opposed to 1-on-1 coaching?
      3. What has been the biggest impact for you after joining one of these.
      4. What would help improve your experience with these?
      5. How long have you been attending one and why did you pick this one?

        1. A small group in Bali, we all came together once a week. Started as a hackathon and has become almost maker support. We're supporting one another and helping each other as we can.
        2. Everyone's experience overlaps in amazing and useful ways. A group I was in for YC Startup School is probably the most disparate types of companies. But a few founders and I have kept in touch. It's become a great group. Even though 1 person does hardware, 1 does Enterprise SaaS and I do whatever it is I'm doing.
        3. The biggest impact is meeting professionals who are really good at sharing their own experience as it relates to my business. And vice versa. If I can creatively think about someone else's business and they to mine. It's powerful. A small seemingly inconsequential mental model someone picked up a decade ago, might help me in that situation perfectly.
        4. Not sure what I need to improve. I wish I had a whiteboard online in calls.
        5. I have a few. They are all casual now. Not set up as a mastermind and executed as a mastermind much any more. Pardon me if this is a bit off what you were looking for.

Hi Andrew, this definitely helps. Can I ask about the ones you are in currently? What are their formats / what do you get out of them?

Just curious what you mean when you say they aren't really masterminds anymore.

I would call them more Peer Groups than masterminds. Maker Social Groups.
            I'm in a few:
1: a facebook chat that becomes a call once a week now
2: a telegram group that was in-person and now a weekly call.
3: a text group that is a call about once every 6 months. This from YC Startup School
