Results from a viral reel (1.8m views): traffic, revenue & more

Hi everyone!
I launched my first web app lofi.co in mid September (more about it in this IH post), and decided to spend a few hundred dollars in marketing (mainly influencer marketing) to check if I'd get any paid subscriptions and finally validate the product.
One of the reels I paid for went viral and these are the results (for October, which is the month this reel went viral in):

  • 120k unique visitors
  • $5600 revenue
  • 12500 signups
  • A lot of feedbacks, which led to the update I launched earlier this month

There were also a few other reels/tiktok videos that brought traffic, but that reel alone most likely represents 90% of it.

There's also a bad side to this experience, which is the fact that the platform was 2 weeks old, therefore, together with the results above, I also had many bug reports from premium users and most importantly I missed out on a lot of conversions due to the platform not having a conversion-optimized copy and on-page marketing and also not having an email nurture sequence.

During November I worked on improving the copy, implementing an email sequence, adding social proof to the pricing page and also updating & improving some of the features. It was definitely a stressing month, and there's still a lot to do and improve, but I'm very excited to see where the upcoming marketing campaign & updates will bring the app.

What do you think about 'viral marketing'? I would love to hear your feedback!

Hey @Oan ! I love your site!! I came across it a little while ago and I love having it play in the background.

There is no way I could go as viral as what you paid for but I'm doing 24 Reels in 24 days until Christmas and calling it Reelmas (an adaption of VLOGmas) and I'd love to feature your site!

You never know to be honest, the account’s followers don’t always matter with reels and TikToks these days. Feel free to shoot me a dm on twitter if you have any questions

How much MRR are you currently at?

I think viral marketing is a great strategy but it all depends on the product. I don't believe 'boring' products will work in the same way yours does.

Love the overall website vibes. Good job

      Hey! 1.5k at the moment

        Very nice!

Are you happy? This means after all you spent from your original post developing it and now with the results.

For sure, considering I thought I'd get my initial investment back in not less than a year with a bit of luck, turns out it's going to be quite less than that, hopefully

Any new updates with how your app is doing?

              1. 1

Could you let me know your current MRR now? Last time it was at 1.5K which is pretty awesome. Not sure if you want to keep it private. I'm just curious with apps like these.

Anyhow, appreciate the response. Wasn't sure if you were still active lol as that was a year ago.

I'd rather not share that online anymore, but it's grown quite a bit since then ;)

                  1. 1

No worries. It's really great that it's grown!

If you have any time to drop some gems, I would love some advice with my web app. I wouldn't mind hearing some advice with my re-launch. Looking to really do whatever it takes to have a successful app like yours.

If not, no worries dude. I'm happy for you, and I hope your mrr shoots beyond the sky. Keep up the good work.

Not sure how good I am at giving advice honestly, as I would need to know exactly your platform (and you), which I obviously don't. In general, I would say talk to as many of your users as you can and try to understand what they really want.

            That’s great. Happy for you
