Revenue generating SaaS
Hi folks,
I too am looking for revenue generating SaaS projects. Preferably ones that have a history on IH. My target is $500+/mo and something that provides some decent value to people. I prefer subscription > advertising. I'm language/platform agnostic.
Some background:
I don't like building from scratch. I am good at it, but I find it tedious. I also have doubts as to whether my time is being used properly on a particular venture (e.g. what if this doesn't generate value). I'm more motivated by something that has traction, customers, etc.
I like operationalizing software. Meaning I like dealing with the infrastructure bits, AWS, Heroku, whatever. I like optimizing that.
I also like optimizing software. Refactoring code, cleaning it up, fixing bugs, writing tests, etc.
I'm always customer focused, so I'd like to keep whatever community as happy as possible for as long as I can.

Why would someone sell to you and not to someone else?
The same question implies : why to someone else but not him? Because someone else is also 'someone'.
Basically I figured if he had any relevant skills he would have mentioned it.
For an average SaaS product someone with programming or marketing skills will be able to recoup more money, it's worth more to them.
Why would a rational buyer sell to someone without those skills? The OP wouldn't rationally be able to pay as much, because the asset wouldn't have as much worth in his hands compared to someone with relevant skills.

I believe you meant to say "Why would a rational seller sell ...".
I honestly don't know what motivates sellers to sell their websites. Personally if I had a website that I was selling, I'd like to see someone who would give me a FMV and compare this offer to others, with price being a strong factor.
A secondary factor would be the buyers future plans and whether that aligns with the sellers values. For me that would mean some sort of trust that the customers would be treated alright and not feel cheated. Ownership changes are rough and often a cause for attrition for loyal communities.

Ah so you have programming skills. I think that's a pretty relevant thing to put in the OP, if I were selling a product that would make me more likely to contact you.
I imagine there are a bunch of reasons to sell. Just like you don't enjoy building from scratch, there are people who only like that part.
