Revolutionizing the Technical Document Writing Process

Introduction

We live in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our daily lives. From chatbots to self-driving cars, AI is transforming industries across the globe. At Silatus, our mission is to harness the power of AI to make document writing more efficient and effective for professionals in various fields, particularly those dealing with technical documents.

A couple of months ago, we launched Silatus, an innovative tool that uses AI to generate product requirement documents for product managers. With a few hundred users already on board and after several hundred hours of coding, we're excited to share that Silatus AI is now 10x more powerful than even ChatGPT in many ways!

Our Journey

Building the Project

As indie hackers, we started by building a minimum viable product (MVP) to test the waters and gauge user interest. To make this happen quickly, we had to work smarter, not harder. We took inspiration from our previous projects and reused as many components as possible, from the logo and domain name to the code itself. Our tech stack: Kubernetes, MySQL, Redis, Laravel, Vue.js, Typescript, TailwindCSS

It took just a couple of partial weekends of low-stress work to get our MVP built. The result was a single-page application relying on the same framework components as a previous project created under the same name. We reused so much code that we didn't even have to replace any hard-coded content within our app.

To tailor Silatus for its intended purpose, we created new database tables for our data model, wrote a few lines of business logic to connect to OpenAI's APIs and process requests, and updated old Kubernetes deployment scripts to get our web server, SSL certificates, Redis cache, and queues up and running (with the database managed by AWS RDS).

Since launching Silatus a couple of months ago, we've been thrilled to see the growing interest in our AI-powered technical document writing tool. As our user base has grown, we've received valuable feedback that has helped us make significant improvements to the platform.

We've focused on making Silatus more powerful and efficient, enabling it to generate high-quality documents with minimal user input. Our tool now comes packed with advanced editing features that make it even easier for professionals to create polished technical documents, all while saving time and effort.
