Hey, Indie hackers!
I'd like to get your critical view on my idea.
Idea.
Use AI to provide a well-rounded perspective on various news and key event. The goal is to present different points of view and arguments from a diverse range of sources, ultimately combating biased and skewed news reporting.
Problem.
The problem we aim to address is the prevalence of biased opinions when it comes to key news and controversial events. Often, depending on the recommendations you receive, you end up exposed to just one side of the story. This can hinder our ability to form an unbiased opinion and truly understand the complexities of a situation.
Solution.
The solution we propose: offering an overview of all key points of view on a subject. By avoiding making our own conclusions, we empower individuals to make informed decisions by providing them with relevant information from multiple perspectives.
How it works.
Leveraging the power of AI, we go through a variety of data sources to identify key opinions and arguments. We then present this information to the audience in a customizable format. Our algorithms allow users to personalize their experience by adjusting the size of the articles, selecting specific topics, and setting the frequency of publications. Whether you have just 5 minutes per week or 20 minutes per day, you can stay you up to date.
Benefits.
Promoting critical thinking and fostering a well-rounded understanding of complex situations while saving users valuable time. With the abundance of information, we want to reduce time required to form well educated opinion about key topics.
Landing page link.
I also created a landing page to explain the idea: https://pointsofview.net/ and provide few examples of how the output can look
Feedback
I'm particularly interested to hear if you share the problem I've outlined and find the solution interesting. Additionally, I welcome any critical views on the feasibility and prospects of this idea from people who worked on similar ideas.
P.S. Don't hold back - I'm open to constructive criticism!
Since you asked to roast it - do people want to have unbiased perspective? What if people want to be biased?
But on positive side, you might offer it as a tool for those who do want to be balanced in their views.
Thanks! And good point. From what I see so far, it seems that there are many more people who actually prefer news coverage that aligns with their viewpoint)
Maybe you could make one website with 3 points of view (like 1. democrats 2. republicans 3. balanced)
This way you could have whole audience and not just 1/3 of it.
AI would help to sort news into separate pov.
Is the AI model biased
Or just forced censorship on topics
I was thinking about this with regard to cross referencing/comparing news topics from news written by different countries.
It's a good point on the model bias. I saw that the initial out of box model results might not cover all the viewpoints. To overcome it I was extending the scope of news sources based on media bias matrix to add more views. This adds some complexity though which should be easier to manage over time as the sources database is built.
And the country perspective is an interesting one as well. For some news I think it is an optimal way to show different viewpoints.
