Roast My Idea: LangSwap, the Babel Fish for Video Translation

Hey folks, my friend Ilya (@frappuccino) builds a cool project similar to Babel fish from the Hitchhiker to the galaxy, but for your beloved foreign sources on youtube or tiktok. He can't post on his own, so I'm giving him a word through my account.

Hey indie hackers, I'm Ilya, the creator of LangSwap.app. It's a video translation platform that allows you to create videos in any language and translate them automatically into English.

Language barriers are a major obstacle to global reach for video creators. LangSwap is a more efficient and cost-effective way to translate videos. It uses state-of-the-art machine translation technology to deliver accurate and natural translations in a matter of minutes.

The global video market is worth billions of dollars and is growing rapidly. LangSwap has the potential to reach a large and under-served audience.

I'm confident that LangSwap is a great idea, but I want to get your feedback to make sure I'm on the right track.

What do you think? Is there a market for this? What are the biggest challenges I'll face?

I'm also open to any other feedback you have. I'm here to learn and grow, so please don't hold back!

Thanks in advance for your help!

P.S. To make things more interesting, I'll give away a free year of LangSwap to the person who leaves the most helpful and constructive feedback.

I like it! Also, I would suggest the other direction too: provide a service for English youtubers to translate to other languages. Mr. Beast is using this strategy, and I bet other medium-large channels would want to as well.
    It's better explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCH1rGg0bZ0&ab_channel=BestOfPods

Other languages are in our roadmap 😉

So first thing i was wondering was "how much" and first thing i saw was "$200".
You explained later that that was savings but still an first impression is the first impression.

I would just edit purple header to "Save 20h+ and $200".

As for idea itself you might advertise it as a "new revenue stream" for creators.

Find creators that do English vids and translate them for free if they'll tell you how much they made in additional revenue.

Also just idea but is there possibility of doing it viewer side instead of creator side? Meaning that end viewer requests translating videos he wants to watch without waiting for creator to upload them.

Thanks! Yeah, we should say that the product is FREE much clearer than we do now 😅

To make it on a viewer side, you need a platform. And I'm not youtube 😤

No way it's gonna take off. As if there was any shortage of english content in the web..
Tell your friend to find a better job!
