Hi All - Looking for honest feedback on the idea below. I am close to finishing up an initial prototype which will be shared out next week.
Product:
Third-party service that allows entrepreneurs to focus on building and shipping their core features while taking care of essential but non-core features like User Signup, User Registration, User Profile, 2FA, Password handling, User Settings, and more.
As an example, just like Typeform, my vision is that an entrepreneur would take 5 min to configure their registration flow and publish it. It could be hooked up as a separate link or embedded in the core app as a widget. Slight backend integration would be needed but we would take care of 95% of the heavy lifting.
Auth0, Okta, etc. exist but they focus on developers and on Authentication only. This platform would focus on non-developers and on additional features that are considered "Yak Shaving" by entrepreneurs or product managers when trying to get a product to market quickly.
If you are an entrepreneur currently building your next product, would you use something like this? What problems would it solve for you? What features might you want to see in it?
Oh, and if you do want to try it out, DM me with your email address to be added to the waiting list!
Hello,
Very curious to see what you come up with.
Thank you @rohini_!
Out of curiosity, what are you working on?
Sounds like Firebase for non-developers. Which would be interesting.
Do you already have a certain use case in mind? For something like a members area e.g. there are already plugins for WordPress.
I would say it's a level higher than Firebase.
An example use case and user journey:
You are an entrepreneur building a new app (web or mobile) and want to build the following registration flow:
To do above, you log into the platform UI, toggle on/off above screen options. In the Signup screen, you toggle on email/pass, magic link, Google. Same with other screens. And then you get a URL that you can start sharing out and link to your landing page's signup button. You can also enter the redirect URL.
Slight integration needed on your main app. Say you are using Bubble to build your app. You install our plugin and then follow a few simple steps.
That's it, you have a fully functioning registration flow up and running hooked up to your main application. All this can be done within 60 min.
Saves you days of implementation time, debugging, etc. and you get to market much faster.
Honestly as a PM in software this is always a pain point. If you can figure this out you’ll kill it. I think the biggest risk is creating a product that delivers the value prop in a true no code way. Second, developers tend to be the target IMO because they are the ones that build it. If you think in terms of jobs to be done, what job is this solving for? Do non technical folks know enough to use a product like this, etc
Best of luck with the progress!
Really appreciate the feedback.
For the reasons you cite, I am slightly skeptical of PMs as a target segment. My initial focus will be on entrepreneurs (folks in this community) who are trying to build a product quickly and get it out in the market. Their primary job is to get something out there as quickly as possible. In doing so, the essential but non-core features serve to delay time to market. And that's what this project will address.
As the product grows and expands it could serve the technical folks as well.
Also another note on Okta: we are currently working with it in a project with our product & venture studio hatch.studio and it's kind of a pain. Customizability and smooth integration (eg. the onboarding flow) are very limited. Would definitely be an important aspect for us to consider!
Is it something like these two?
These are excellent, thank you.
roq.tech is very close to what I am trying to do but focused on non-developers and NoCode developers. ROQ appears to be for developers.
Have you used any of them?
Nope, just saw them on Product Hunt.
Thanks. Looked into Roq more and they are definitely developer focused. Roq is good secondary validation of the market.
