After many tweaks and starting from scratch, I've finally launched a landing page at https://automations.io.
I'm a strong believer in automation, especially for startups, since that's how you reduce cost, save time and increase efficiency.
Hence I'm building an automation platform, that allows you to automate day-to-day tasks and build no-code workflows.
My target market is startups (indie hackers like you) and developers.
Feedback very much appreciated. MVP is still in progress, sign up for early access :)
Thank you!
#landing-page-feedback
"Developers, marketers and businesses of all sizes"
Sounds like you are trying to please everyone. Who is it actually for? Who does it really help? Who can't live without it? Then talk to just them.
Hi Josh, thanks for your honest feedback! Definitely taking this on board and agree with you. We are somewhat afraid to focus too much on developers, which can alienate the potential business/enterprise/non-developer customers, but this attempt to try and please everyone just adds confusion, as you fairly pointed out. We'll improve the message who it is for. Thanks again!
I agree! Good point. Makes me less sure of what its actually for.
At first glance I don't know what it does. It seems to say that it can automate anything, which makes me distrust it since that seems unlikely for a new product.
What I want to know is:
Very nice design and landing page, congrats. The message is clear thanks to the screenshots from your App. Not any specific feedback, but later you might add more CTA buttons or sections to your landing page. Some people won't scroll down all the way, so you might want to have a CTA below the "Visual Editor" section as well.
Thanks Hossein, that's a valid point!
Congrats on the launch! Beautiful design, well done.
It took me a while to figure out what your product actually is. I would suggest adding more concrete use cases in your copy
Hi Niek,
You've got a valid point, we'll be adding more examples and real life use cases. Thank you for your input!
Hey Alexander,
The site looks really good. The design is nice.
I'm a big proponent of automation as well. I'm also a designer/developer working in a startup, so I have some suggestions on your copy, from your target customer.
Headline:
"The simplest way to automate a business".
How have you substantiated that automations.io is "the simplest way"? Who did you compare your solution to? What makes your solution the simplest?
I would stay away from general and/or bold claims unless you've proven them and you can provide your evidence.
If you're truly offering the simplest solution, then use your evidence as a more specific claim.
Also in your headline, "... a business" doesn't feel personalized to me. It doesn't hook me. Right now when I read your headline, I think "that could be the headline of any automation solution, for any automation concern".
Dig into the emotional need that I have as a developer working in a startup. The reason I need to automate is to stop doing mundane manual tasks so that I can focus on growth. I need to stop the repetitive tasks that eat up the time that I should be using to complete a new feature, find a new customer, etc.
Subhead:
What does "next-generation" mean? It feels like fluff. What makes it next-generation? Similarly, what does "kick-starting" my business mean? What point does kick-starting get me to? Does that mean I'll have a fully launched business model? Or, does it mean I'll have just my business idea formulated? This can mean too many things to too many different people, so go for something specific.
Your whole value proposition is to automate repetitive/mundane tasks so that your customer can focus on the more important stuff. Write your copy based on that.
Hero screenshot:
I think your "Visual Editor" screenshot shows the product's benefit better. It's a visual way to automate your workload. Your dashboard screenshot is nice but it's just another screenshot of a dashboard. Almost every product comes with a dashboard. Show off your secret sauce as early as you can.
Your 3 main bullets are feature/keyword based. Try to pull the benefit out of them.
"Startup Automation" - What benefit are you providing here? Faster Growth? Sanity? Being able to focus on customers? Staying out of "the weeds"?
"Development Platform" - Same question. What do we developers love? Control? API Access? Integrations?
"Marketing Automation" - Increase conversions is a nice benefit. More customers?
Visual Editor:
"A simple and easy to use editor to design automations." Relative to what? How can you prove this? What seems simple to you may be overly complex to me, especially since you're building this. Rather than saying it's simple, focus on a benefit of using a Visual Editor.
I'm going to stray from my normal advice a bit here but your next few bullet sections need something to spark interest.
"Drill down into details" - That is not something that people would generally say out loud when they talk about a product they want.
I would either pull out a benefit or add some intrigue here. An example that I can think of is when Redux and Redux DevTools came out and people talked about how you could do "time travel".
If you changed it to something like "Automation Time Travel", I would immediately want to know what that meant.
I also think it's a great feature that you can restart an automated process from any point.
"Monitor every execution" - This isn't very exciting, especially when you mention thousands of executions. Your bullet points are good though. The benefit here seems to be the amount of control you have over each execution. Monitoring isn't a benefit, it's a job.
At the bottom, "Ready to automate?" feels very passive. Attach something to this to make them say yes. Something along the lines of "Have some tasks that you wish were automated?"
Finally, your CTA's are different. In your header, it's simply "Sign Up" and it's a black button. At the bottom of the page, it's "Start Free Trial" and it's purple. You should use some continuity to strengthen the call to action.
Again, nice design. I like the idea. I signed up. Good Luck!
Oh wow, this is a legendary feedback Davey, thanks a lot. Pre-ordered your book!
I actually thought about this exact point, and I've tried to stay generic with "business", being afraid to alienate the potential business/enterprise/non-developer customers.
I very much agree with your feedback and I'm taking everything on board, thank you again!
Hey @aalimovs - You mind if I use this as a "testimonial"? I'm doing a tongue-in-cheek style landing page but I want to use actual testimonials like this.
Sure, feel free to use it.
Awesome. Hope it helps. I have some news on the book too. I'll send you an email on that.
I'm looking forward to using automations.io as soon as it's available.
Great home page. Maybe a real example of automation could help to understand what you can achieve with the tool.
Thanks Carl, will definitely add more examples. Thanks for your input!
The product looks so dope. The only thing that gives me pause is that, as a developer, I’m not sure I would want to store my business logic on a proprietary platform and lose the flexibility of a real programming language. Maybe this product is not meant for me or maybe I just haven’t thought of the use case that would fit me. So I guess maybe a section that describes different real world use cases for different types of users would be helpful.
Hi Ian, thanks for the honest feedback. We definitely will allow developers run their own code on their own servers, and add as much complexity/business logic they want. Completely agree with you that we need to add more examples to show the use cases. Thanks again for your input
I can't find any price details... and that makes me less interested...
Hi Luis,
No pricing available yet on purpose, we're still busy on the MVP and not in a stage to announce pricing tiers. Thanks for having a look!

Hi Yehuda,
Agree, more real-life examples is something we definitely should add, thanks for feedback.
On the IFTTT/Zapier, you're correct, we're in the similar space. However, we're adding adding more advanced developer features, like the ability to branch out your workflow with if statements, loop through arrays, run actions in parallel (e.g. kick-off 3 long-running, think hours, actions in parallel) run your own code, etc, allowing you to do anything - from validate your backup policies, to ETL jobs, marketing automation, etc.
