I think you're onto something with this. The struggle for hashing out ideas with like-minded peers is real and big and won't go away soon.

What I don't understand is whether you have to bring your own peers or perligo provides strangers that you'll be glad are part of your group. That lack of clarity (and how Perligo would go about facilitating that in the first place) adds a little bit too much anxiety to the visitor's mental back-and-forth (adding more "back" than "forth").

Also, the "I want in" call to action creates some more anxiety. Am I going to get emailed stuff I don't want? Is this thing ready? What am I getting into by adding my email in here, clicking that button (the first time we see "I want in", there's no email box in the periphery).

I judge a landing page on a simple formula:

(Struggle + Attraction) must be greater than (Anxieties + "I'll just" alternatives). "I'll just alternatives are always super strong, so reduce anxieties as much as you can, and make sure your solution addresses a hard struggle, which I believe you do.

No need to dress up your headlines. No need to shorten your text. Just make sure your landing page communicates you understand the visitor's struggle and that anxieties are addressed.

For example, one way you can alleviate anxieties in general is to tell a story about a group you (the creator of the platform) are part of, and that you're replicating that overall strategy for others to benefit from. Honesty, personality, trust. It might go a long way.

1. Your headline doesn’t say anything

“A critique group you’ll actually love.”

A critique group for what? Why should I love a certain critique group?

These are the questions that a potential customer may have in the moment they visit your website.

You should try to grab attention with your headline not to make them have objections.

“What if you could get feedback easier and faster?”

See the difference?

2. Try to add a photo/gif/video from your product

Even if you don’t have your product ready, try to create a mockup or something that is pretty close to your end product.

I want to see it in action, how it looks.

“A picture is worth a thousand words”.

3. Try to describe the steps better

I’ll take the first one: “Create or Join a Group”

How can I do this? It is hard or easy to create a group? Should I do something particular?

Try to describe the steps better. If I will see that I can do everything in 1 min maybe I’m interested. If it gonna take half a day because maybe I need to wait for approval if I will create a group maybe I’m not.
