I just launched Roasti and would love to hear some roasts of your own.
This week, I want to focus on refining the small details and improving the service before launching on Product Hunt next week.
Your input and feedback would be greatly appreciated during this week. Thank you in advance!
I like it. What did you use to build it? Framer? Webflow? Elementor?
Visually, it's really clean. It sails a little close to the wind in terms of colour contrast but it's definitely AA compliant, so at that point it becomes a matter of personal preference.
I'm torn because on one hand my initial reaction is saying "where's the social proof here? How many roasts have they done? Where's an example roast to show me what I'm buying?"
BUT... given how dirt cheap the prices are, I also find myself thinking "Well, it's only $10." So in that regard, the risk is reduced.
If you do eventually hike your prices though, that social proof becomes a non-negotiable.
I'd like to know what it is you're focusing on? In my experience (and opinion, admittedly) the general user doesn't care about the specifics of the design as much as the usability of it. No denying that these things are connected, but the power of a high converting landing page isn't just in the visual design - it's the copy, it's the user flow, it's the psychology and more. Do you go into anything like that? The impression I get from your site (both the price and the focus on aesthetic) is that you don't? But that's more valuable, useful and impactful to a business.
Take https://www.roastmylandingpage.com/ as an example. It's $350 for that service, but you're getting things that actually matter to the bottom line. And if you don't see improvements from the advice once implemented? You get a refund. The risk is gone there.
So yeah, looks great, flows nicely, and the price is next to nothing. But is that a reflection on the quality of the service? To some, it could be. There's no way to see examples of your roasts on the site, so people will join the dots and draw their own conclusions - that's what humans do.
Thank you so much for your feedback. This is exactly the feedback I was hoping to get, a lot of what you said confirms what I already knew which is great. I saw many people posting on indie hackers to roast to their page, and being a UI designer, I mainly gave design critique, because personally, when I encounter a product with poor design, it immediately influences my perception of its quality. However, I agree with you that design is not as crucial as the usefulness and necessity of the tool itself.
I've received a lot of positive feedback on the design aspect of the critiques I've given on Indie Hackers, and I’ve already been learning how to improve the service, such as providing CSS code that can be easily inserted into projects to fix styling issues, eliminating the need for users to do it themselves. While I understand that design critiques may not directly contribute to the bottom line, there is still value in having good design that attracts users.
I am trying to validate the service by offering it at a very low price point. This approach allows me to acquire initial clients and gather reviews, which I can then showcase on the website alongside before and after shots. This way, potential users can truly understand what they will receive and see how others have responded to it. This is my main focus for the week, as I am planning to launch on Product Hunt next week. However, I might consider delaying the launch by another week to further improve the service and add more information to the landing page.
If you are interested, I would love for you to try out the service while the price is still affordable and provide your feedback. It would be greatly appreciated as I continue to refine and enhance the offering.
P.S. I use Webflow.
Looks great! I would love to chat about your project. I think the project I launched a month ago - https://visualdebug.com/ might be interesting to you.
Thanks, it looks like we're offering similar services. So you debug Javascript and other languages? My service provides CSS code for styling.
