Roast my landing page

Hey there Indie Hacking friends 👋,

I'm working on validating my idea for a platform where language students and teachers can schedule online lessons together: https://www.langchase.com/

Current platforms are so greedy it's hard for teachers (especially from Western countries) to make the online teaching business a full time gig. I want to change that. As a user of such platforms, I see some of the problems that can be fixed.

Hit me up with your thoughts! I appreciate it! Specifically:

  • Is the message clear? Can it be improved?
  • Suggestions to help drive sign ups?
  • General comments on style

Thanks,

I think the message is clear to me and the call to action is easy to understand. Some things to consider, that I don't think are actually big deals:

    • not sure you need the middle call to action, seems excessive
    • font size seems kind of small in the "why" section
    • wondering if there's a stock image you can throw in there somewhere to break monotony of words and ass some more visual appeal

Overall, seems like you have some traction with your waitlist and seems like a good concept!

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you found it clear!

Yeah, I see what you mean about the font size! I'll play with it!

Haha, yeah I was missing some imagery too.. Good point! I'll look around and see if there's something I can easily plug in. Or maybe I'll draw something in Figma!

I would do a few things from first glance!

    • Add a "join waitlist" sticky button that moves with the page.
    • Throw 3 heavy hitter benefits above or below the CTA. You can choose your 3 favorites from Why section. Make them concise (e.g. Keep 90%+ of class price)
    • Do you have social proof? It should be the first thing you see after the fold.

    Overall my biggest critique would be that hero section. I would aim to overdeliver there. Perhaps a graphic and really try some compelling copy there. This is a waitlist page, which means the primary purpose should be to create FOMO. Small changes in copy can do that. Think about your current headline;

"A better way to teach and learn languages online."
    VS.
"The Ultimate Platform for Teaching Online"

Thats an example but you probably get the picture. FOMO is everything with waitlists so the the number below your CTA is great!

Great suggestions! I admit I have a lack of "marketing speak" haha! This is great, I made some of the suggested changes! Still struggling to find/make an appropriate graphic but am working on it!

      Thank you!

I suggest reducing the width of the element "Our mission is to easily connect…"

Recommended character count per line is 50 to 75. On my screen, there are 215 characters per line. Makes it difficult to read.

Very good point! Thanks! I'll see what I can do to improve it!

I'd suggest making the copy longer.
The message is clear but it's not hitting home. I don't know if you get what I mean.

For example, instead of just highlighting the benefits, why not also appeal to a negative emotion or mention the disadvantage(s) of not signing up?

Also, what exclusive benefit(s) do the first set of subscribers get?
I think you should provide some form of incentive to people who joined before the launch.
    What do you think, Uri?

I like the calm, clean design. Definitely cultivates a conducive learning atmosphere. Very good work!
