Roast my landing page?

Hi there, I'm Just 😃!

Right now, I'm working on budgetkanban.com - it's a visual budgeting app using kanban board.

For the past week, I've been building its landing page with my main reference is marc lou's post about making landing pages. Other than that, I just kinda wing it but I'm afraid I added elements that might overwhelm the visitors. This is my first time launching a product on Product Hunt, so I maybe overthinking a lot about it 😅

I'd love to hear what you think about the landing page - if there's anything missing or if there are parts that might make people leave, or just how the site made you feel in general. Your feedback means a lot to me!

Website: budgetkanban.com

Thanks a bunch!

P.S. In exchange, if you're interested, I'd be keen on giving discounts :D

Hey, just an insight from fellow budgeting nerd. I've been tracking all my expenses and maintaining a budget since 2014. I've migrated different apps multiple times and tried like 5 different approaches to budgeting. Hell, I even built my own budgeting app at around 2016-2017 (but it got nowhere, because ynab is basically perfect).

Using kanban for budgeting is.... new? But like, in a bad way "new". As a budgeting nerd, what's the point in it for me? Does it improve or substitue zero-based budgeting (ZBB)? In "why use kanban for budgeting" it does not explain how kanban actually solves anything.

On the other hand, for a newbie with no budget and expense tracking what is the value? I don't even understand how I would approach to use it. What do I need to enter in the app? How do I make it useful? Probably some real-world examples are missing.

Overall, I think there is a place for a better budgeting apps, I just don't understand the proposition by just looking at the landing page.

Thanks for the detailed insight as I've been waiting to hear it from a hardcore budgeting nerd 😃. Appreciate the long reply and the guide questions 😁

The more I think about it, the more I think my positioning is all wrong. Equally, my explanation needs a lot of work 😄.

      Thanks!

If possible, copy can focus on moving the user from the present to the future.

    For example:

h1: Automated budgeting - Take control of your finances, tackle debt, and save more

Hi Just, here's a quick feedback for your landing page.

    1. Rather than writing 'effortless budgeting' in the title, can you show how you make it effortless? (the space on the right side could be used for this)
    2. 'minimal setup' doesn't mean anything until you tell me how much time it takes
    3. As seen on 'X/Twitter' doesn't really mean anything, this space is usually used for logos (and you don't have any right now). So, just remove this section instead and let users jump straight to Arch's testimonial
    4. Also, I feel the video showing your dashboard should be right below the hero section. Since you don't have solid social proof, users won't stick around until they see the product.
    5. The 'plus more features' should be moved way up.

Overall, I felt like you followed a template while creating this landing page. But, templates don't really work when you are just getting started. So, try showing the product and all its features at the top. (so that you answer user objections in the first few seconds)

    Hope it helps:)

    The general concept looks interesting!

However, I had a hard time seeing a firm example of who would use this and how. If it were me, I'd focus on showing some specific use case. Like a freelancer tracking their AR.

The design is clean and fresh. Only critiques: the hero section is verrry wide on my ultrawide. I'd set a max width there. The colors are nice, but some don't quite match and clash a little bit. The header gradients and the CTA buttons specifically.

This is nice but I wouldn't sign up because it's not addressing some key questions about the value it provides and how it works. Does it integrate with my banking app? Do I have to manually record transitions? I wouldn't want to do that. Or is this app for accountants/finance specialists?

Maybe I'm not in the target audience.

The bar for a new finance tool is high. There's budgeting and expense tracking built into my Revolut app. The Kanban view is interesting but not sure how it fits into my existing tool stack and workflow.

Also, the fact that it's a web app makes it even harder to adopt. I'd want a mobile app so I can log transactions on the go quickly.

    My best advice:
Narrow down on the problem you want to solve and for who, to try to lower the barrier of entry. It seems to be a generic app for everyone that revols around 1 feature.

Thanks calinbalea! Definitely my biggest worry if my positioning is right 😅. Lots of guide questions here. Thank you for the feedback 😃

overrall impression: it feels disorganized to me. I would try to work out some more visuall hierarchies, and create contrast (the mint green in the pricing section could be a good place. Also there seems so much clutter and the video feels hectic and overwhelming. In the middle section, you have all headlines in the middle, maybe switch it up with different layouts, too?

I find the colours and load on the top of the page distracting (mobile, a bit tired generally), the repeating green-black? Gradient I find hard for the eyes trying to read the text, I hate it for actual text you want me to read, if that was just some visual flare somewhere like a logo I wouldn't mind as much

Personally I don't like the concept so much, feels like it makes it more complicated, but I don't budget personally, the samples also don't make it much more attractive to me, I can get it for a business

Your hero title sucks!! who is using your app, who are those random people? how drag and drop is better than table, and how does it save time and money?
