Good things come in threes!
I have submitted my landing page for roasting on IH already twice and why stop there?
After more than a month of customer conversations and product development, I have a better idea of the solution I can propose. I've been iterating on the landing page accordingly and would love to once again have your feedback.
Please check it out here: https://bkmark.io
What's Awesome?
What's Boring?
What's Confusing?
What Didn't you believe?
Please add your landing page to the comment too and I'll give you my feedback.
Thanks,
Honestly, it isn't bad. I started typing up some critique, but realized it's all just nitpicking on things that I think is better off being A/B tested anyway.
My only suggestion is to include 2 or 3 use cases. Although I could see myself using such a service, my personal internet usage always revolve around the same sites anyway (eg. Facebook, Indiehackers, etc), which doesn't necessarily need a bookmark manager.
So a use case or two that illustrates the demographic who might benefit from this might help scope your audience better:
Examples might be (of course these are all just guesses):
Thanks for your feedback @geetfun!
I fully get what you mean, in one of the early versions I had 3 personas that I put forward (makers, journalists and researchers) but it didn't quite fit the flow of the landing page and I wasn't happy with it. I thought it might be a distraction for visitors and also prevent me from learning from other industries I have not explored yet.
I will keep this in mind for the next iteration and figure out how to showcase use cases that are less random than the current video and screenshots. Thanks for the tip!
And please send the nitpicking my way. I don't have enough traffic yet to run A/B testing so any opinion is valuable at this stage.
Also, please send your landing page link and I'll leave my feedback too :)
Okay I think it's pretty straight forward, with the messaging and stating the problem you are trying to solve. Good copy overall simple and clear. But the site seems kind having too much going on almost like it's trying to hard or maybe it's the design but overall well understood message.
I have mine still in development anyone care to review please your comments

My page: getmage.io
What's Awesome: I really like how you describe your Features. The Gifs help to get it alive, you immediately know what to expect and how it works. Also, in most places, your web page is really clean and contains short statements instead of large bulks of text.
What's Boring: I don't know if I personally would need the video, I think it's more slowing me down, and everything below is in my eyes a better explanation:
What's Confusing: The Picture in the bottom is so huge! And I even have a big monitor, but still only could fit like half of the picture. So the Arrows (to which I couldn't see the end) confused me, and I had to scroll up and down to get what you were trying to tell me.
What Didn't you believe: Probably, that saving Bookmarks by mail will make my life easier.
In summary: I think you are communicating with high engagement and clarity, which makes it easy to grasp your product. Maybe you can get a better visualization of the picture at the bottom with those arrows.
My page for roasting: https://faq-div.com/
I love how it's very clear what it does. Also the tagline "You're not a bookmark hoarder, you're stuck with the wrong tools." is really well found. It's comforting so it helps people acknowledge their "problem", and then directs to your solution. Nitpick: I would add some white-space between the title and the tagline(s).
I'm less enthusiastic about the video TBH. Maybe consider voiced it yourself, it would make it much more personal and interesting. You also try to explain a lot in the video, and its easy to feel overwhelmed, I think. You could consider splitting it up into two (or more) videos, where the first is just 20 sec or so showing the basics. Or perhaps a demo page so people can play around at their own pace (I know that's easier said than done)?
I get and like the idea of highlighting certain aspects in the screenshot. But somehow the arrows that you use in some of the diagram don't match the design of the page. The whole page is really slick, but the arrows look somewhat "sloppy" ;) Some suggestions (I'm not a designer though): perhaps just overlay circles on the screenshot itself, with lines/arrows to the text that explains more. Or perhaps add the text directly below such circle (kinda like a tooltip).
I think this line can be improved: "Bkmark has few, yet key features". The "few" has a negative ring. Perhaps something like being simple to use, AND delightful features.
Overall it looks great, keep it up!
Hi @almarklein, thanks a lot for your feedback, and the idea of a sandbox page is really awesome, I will investigate it further.
Yeah I get your point about the video, I'll work at improving it, I'm considering working with a videographer on this in the future.
Thanks a lot for all the other points, I'll work on those as well.
With regards to your page:
What's Awesome: It's a very neat product you have there. I really like the tagline, sweet and short, straight to the point, and moreover, what sold me on the idea is the how it works. Very well done.
What's Boring: You do not have an icon for the page, and in the middle with the code example, the page spans the entirety of the page with barely any margin which I find hard to read. I didn't read the bullet points on the left and I didn't even notice they were clickable until I was writing this. Maybe have them as a dropdown menu instead?
What's Confusing: I said I really like the tagline, that's true, but I liked it only after I understood it.At my first reading I was a tad confused, and it's only after reading the how it works that I understood what it actually meant. I already had to be invested in the page to get to that point, so maybe have a bit more details in a sub-tag line.
What didn't I believe: The pricing model. I understand I can download the code for free but I need a license to use it. Why have it as a one time payment JS code rather than a monthly sub where all I have to put a random script on my page for it to work, and I can have analytics and all of that from a dashboard on your site?
Thanks for feedback! Really good points that I can work with! I also get your point about the tagline being sweet ... but not being clear enough to capture attention by itself. I think I'll move the how-it-works up, and maybe add a second tagline.
About the pricing model: it's a JS lib that works locally - no data is send off anywhere, so I cannot provide analytics or anything like that. I mean it could ... but then it would be a different product. There are similar products sold this way (fullpage.js being one example).
#What's Awesome?
Just by reading your headline I was able to understand what you are offering. Awesome!
#What's Boring?
Copywriting is far from bad but it still somehow does not excites me.
Take a look at https://superhuman.com/
Maybe you get inspired. I think they did an awesome job with their copywriting.
#What's Confusing?
"A bookmark manager you don't need to learn
Bkmark has few, yet key features"
Hmm I expect that a bookmarking tool is easy to use. On the other hand you downgrade your product by telling that it only has few features.
I would formulate more positively.
(The same applies to this line: A bookmark manager that won't break the bank)
#What Didn't you believe?
-
All in all, I think the product itself is great but my guess is that you lose the excitement you created with your headline by listing all that features.
An idea you could test:
Try a super simple landing page with just your awesome headline, an awesome designed illustration/ background image and maybe a bit more exciting CTA and explain all the features in your onboarding instead of just list them on your landing page.
Keep up the good work!
Hi @patrickr ! Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback !
I just checkout the super human landing page and it's awesome. Will definitely be taking inspiration.
Since then I have cut down the number of features listed on the page and also I will spend more time on the copy. I think I fell into the trap of building a feature factory rather than a product. Something to always keep in mind :) .
Hi @boristane you're welcome! :)
# What's Awesome?
"Saving bookmarks is easy
Keeping them tidy, not so much" instantly tells me what you do
I liked the video demo.
I like the style where you draw attention to some parts of the header by changing the text colour and its background.
"120+ SEATS RESERVED" that's cool.
The annotated screenshot that shows how the app works.
# What's Boring?
The video has an unnatural/cold voice and it could be much shorter. Pack more punch per second.
There's something about the design, I can't really tell because I don't have enough experience, but there's something that makes it feel off. The colours maybe? I think the colour of the dark text is too dark.
# What's Confusing?
"Collate" is an uncommon word that most people wouldn't understand. Overall you could use simpler language.
Compared to the rest, the text is too small on some pages, e.g. at the bottom of the landing page and here: https://bkmark.io/signup/?plan=personal. You can use a typography scale.
Typo: "Bkmark doesthe rest"
# What Didn't you believe?
Did you expect me not to believe something? ;)
I'm not a target user, I don't have a bookmarks mess because I already have a simple system.
# Return the favour
Let me know if I can help further. I would love to hear your thoughts on https://proptee.co.uk
Cheers! 🇬🇧
Hi @aluxian! Thanks for your feedback!
I'm definitely considering professional help with the video. I have fixed some of your recommendations already, thanks!
With regards to your page, I actually like the idea!
What's awesome: The tag line, straight to the point, well thought and simple. This will definitely resonate with any young Londoner!
What's Boring: The three bullet points below "Meet Proptee". They are a bit long are one might argue they're stating the obvious. I'd make them shorter.
What's Confusing: Nothing to be honest
What Didn't You Believe: That it actually works. I'd guess that the property market in the UK would be a highly regulated one and I couldn't find anywhere that you have secured the correct legal paperwork to be running this. Coupled with the fact that you do not have any testimonial from real users, I didn't actually believe this was a thing.
I signed up ;)
Great feedback, thank you! <3
Overall the landing page looks good. It's clear what you're trying to solve. Curated collection seems to be a cool feature. I can see some use cases there. For a bookmark manager, I would expect a free tier. Just my 2 cent.
What's boring? Looks similar to pocket, which is free. I don't see much difference yet.
What's confusing? I'm confused with third party integration. Isn't a url should be enough? Why do we need 3rd party integration?
My landing page is: https://tmate.unicornplatform.com/
I would love to hear some feedback regarding the copies in general, as well as the problem and solution If it's related to you.
Thanks.
Hi @tonyasking! Thanks for your feedback!
There are a few differences with Pocket. Pocket is designed for reading lists whereas this is for saving all sorts of links, and the main differentiating point is the fact that you can just save as much as you want, the links will be archived after a while, whereas in Pocket and all other bookmark managers I've tried, they stay forever.
I removed the 3rd party integrations from the feature list, because:
1- It's not part of the core proposition
2- It can be confusing
The idea is to integrate in such a fashion that you add a pin on pinterest, it automatically comes to your bookmarks in Bkmark.
On your landing page:
Maybe it's a British thing but I've never heard anyone say "water-cooler". It's usually the small kitchen where there is coffee, tea, and snacks.
I understand how your product works but how does it compete with Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc... Most teams have ways of communicating remotely.
Here's my landing page https://thedailycoding.com
Now, on to roasting
What's Awesome?
I like how just in 5 seconds I was able to capture what your page intent to say.
What's Boring?
For me, the video taking up the entire screen space. I also feel the video is a minute long that goes over the product moderetly.
What's Confusing?
Reading through the page actually gets a bit confusing. I wasn't able fully grasp the complete idea. I understand it's a bookmark manager but advertising too many features seems to be a bit off loading.
Love to hear from you about my landing page.
okay, roast https://zerotousers.com.
I'm going to roast yours by 3 criteria (that I got from MecLabs). When a visitor arrives at your page, they ask 3 questions:
a) What is this?
b) What can I do here?
c) Why should I do it?
a) Judging by the headline, I'm on a page where you're somehow supposed to help me organize my bookmarks. Clear.
b) You expect me to sign up, so nothing confusing here.
c) I'm not sure how it works (when looking at it for the first time). I see some video with a small "play" button (maybe consider using Wistia? They have a free tier) but it's over a minute long, plus it seems to have audio and my speakers aren't on atm.
So you've succeeded at a) and b). c)? Not so much. Maybe add 'how it works' page and place it on the navigation?
I just clicked on your website randomly but I had to say, the hero copy got me hooked!
This is what made me enter my email: "I've analyzed all 479 IndieHackers interviews"
I scrolled down and it seems to me the purpose of the entire page is to get me to download the PDF, which I did, so nothing else to do here.
But it's cool your page was so effective that I didn't need to scroll down to sign up!
Design-wise, the first section looks great apart from small details:
