Roast my landing page 🚀

I recently launched Billy, an AI website creator. I would like to ask your feedback.
Do you understand what Billy does?
Would you give it a try if you would need a website?
Is something missing to convince you to try it?

The dark background version of your logo (in the footer)is wrong. It looks the little guy is looking in the upper right corner. This is because humans will interpret the black spot as being the pupil and the white spot as the reflection or sclera.

Great attention to details! I will fix it, Thanks!!

My first bit of feedback is that if you didn't tell me it was using AI, I wouldn't have guessed it was using AI! You might have done this intentionally, but I don't see any harm in mentioning it's using AI to generate the starter template. If you're worried users see AI in a negative light, then adding some benefit like saving time or that the AI knows how to generate templates that optimise conversion etc.

After I created the website, the "Generate new website" confused me a bit - I thought that was the action that would turn the mockup in to a website. Maybe rewording it to be more specific like "Generate another" would help.

I agree with a previous comment - double down on the interactive demo! Make it the star of your landing page. When I first landed on your website, my eye was drawn to the moving video recording. Only after watching the video a little bit did I notice the input field to generate my own website.

Finally, the generated websites all look the same regardless of what I type in. In fact, they look too similar to Billy itself.

Overall nice work David :) Thanks for sharing

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, not mentioning AI was intentional. I think my target customers don't really care what creates their website they care if it works, maybe I will change my mind later on this topic. I have reworded the "generate" button hope it's now clearer. I also improved the landing page and the hero video, hopefully, this will improve the conversion rate.

Hello, the idea of the website is great!
However, I have noticed some issues. When I wanted to create a "financial services company that provides bookkeeping and tax filing," the content it produced included an image of a dollar bill and handcuffs together.
I wonder if it is necessary to avoid negative content when generating or selecting images.
Hope it is useful for you

    Howdy David,

I'm super interested in AI website builders, so this is great to see. Overall I like the positioning and approach you are taking for Billy. It's fun and whimsical, but not silly. Here are some off-the-top-of-my-head thoughts:

    1. CTA buttons. The CTA buttons are inconsistent and need some thinking.

1.1 The blue button in the nav should either be "Sign up" or "Create a free account"
1.2 The "describe your business" demo is AMAZING but it's not as clear that this is a literally functional demo. More on that in a moment. But the button should say "Generate my site" or something like that
1.3 The big blue button should always be the primary action you want people to take. Like "Create an account" or the like.

    2. Too few FAQs. A good FAQ section should have between 7-12 items. If there are more than 12 then show 12 but link to a dedicated FAQ page with all items. Look at other SaaS website to get ideas of what Qs need As, or ask ChatGPT

    3. The demo is THE MOST POWERFUL selling feature for Billy. I want to know this is a REAL demo I can use immediately. Make it stick out like a purple cow. Put big text across it "REAL DEMO -- IT WORKS". And tell the user they don't have to create an account before trying it (like all the other dummy AI website creators sites out there).

    4. Show Results. Who is using Billy? What has been created? How do I know this is real!? Show a grid of real websites created by Billy. Those may be from real customers, so you are giving them free promotion, or in the early days you may need to spin up a few example sites yourself

    5. The Video. The video is cool, but the video editing-in-action is too small to see anything.

5.1 Record the video with a not as wide browser. And an improvement would be one of those screen recorders that auto zoom in the video on actions as you screen record.
5.2 Also, the demo site looks too much like the Billy site, so it gets lost. Make the demo editor site slightly different that the Billy brand colors and illustration style.

    6. Either show more customer logos, or none. This should be easy to fill even if it means you need to cajole friends and family to create a demo site and add a logo.

Good stuff. I think you are in a good position to build something incredibly powerful and valuable. There will be many competitors, but there will also be plenty of need to support many businesses create SaaS like this.

Thanks for taking the time to review my website. Your feedback was super helpful! I have improved the CTA's, and FAQ questions, changed the video, and improved some design elements.
I'm in the process of rethinking the Demo site to make it easier to understand.
