Roast my landing page (+ Giveaway 🎁)

Hey IH,

If you have some spare energy left today, what do you think about Habits Garden?

It's a gamified habit tracker to help you fight procrastination, but I can't say much more 😉

Your feedback will directly impact the conversion rate. The first paying customers started to show up last Sunday (after 3 months of grinding 😅)

🎁 As a little gift for your help, I'll randomly pick someone in the comments to win a lifelong membership to Habits Garden.

    Hey @marclou

Awesome work! I think I may sign up soon, after having sworn to not use other habit tracker app ever again ^^

You ve done a wonderful work on the landing, I've left a couple of audio thoughts on it if it can help: https://www.vero.fm/page/rec97Cdy3H2lqeZMx/

Hey Ben, I love your feedback, what a unique way of doing it!

Si t'essayes l'app, dis moi ce que t'en penses :)

      Merci 🙏🏻

        Yes cool, avec plaisir !
Ok si c est en audio pour les feedback ? 🤪

          1. 2

Looks great. Like the sound effects. :)

I got confused initially when I scrolled down to the flower planting section. It's probably because I didn't bother reading the 1st subtitle. I was confused why there was a game and why that would help my habit tracking... but after more reading, I got it.

@MaxwellDavis thanks for the suggestion 😉

    Looks nice!

My first bit of feedback is that you should increase the color contrast a bit, especially for the small light gray text (like the bit that says "I want to speak fluently to my parents in-laws and Google everything in English").

Right now, the colors are a bit better than 3:1, which isn't sufficient for small text like that. You can check the contrast here: https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/?fcolor=3C424D&bcolor=8A8D95

      Good point, thank you!

Google Lighthouse was actually telling me but I ignored it^^

Your contrast checker tool is helpful, thanks 😉

    Desktop version:
I know Habits Garden is mobile only, but I often check out app-websites on desktop and (when I am interested) download the app on mobile, so I think the desktop version is relevant here as well.

    • The layout is very narrow and would certainly look better if the page would take up more space on the screen / have bigger font sizes
    • I like the interactivity of the widget (with confetti effect), it is hard not to tick the checkbox :) I don’t understand what the plants below mean, though.
    • «Grow a wonderful garden» is underlined and therefore looks like a link to me. If you want to highlight it, making it bold might be better
    • In the second gif you show a «Claim» button
    • Third gif («Be a productivity master»)—while this looks really cool and interesting, it is hard to understand the connection to ticking tasks off. Also I would like to see the garden growing (~ fighting personal procrastination), seeing the garden grow might be more interesting than buying items
    • Having testimonials is great, but they are too small
    • The GitHub-like activity graph is intuitive to me, but might be worth explaining for others
    • Pricing section: hovering over underlined items is not intuitive, better to have a question mark icon next to it, that users can hover over to get more information about a specific item (e.g. «Visualize your Habit Grid»)
    • «Track habits for free» vs «Start my free trial»: these two buttons are competing with each other. I cannot decide which one to click. Maybe better to decide on one route (e.g. by channeling users to the free option and trying to convert in-app !? Also for me it might be easier to grasp if there is a free version vs. a pro version. The naming «Habit tracker + Garden» is a bit confusing.
    • FAQ section: Adding a few more questions might make it better, e.g.:
      • What differentiates Habit Garden to other habit trackers?
      • Is there a desktop version?
      • Is there an Android / iOS app?
    • Gif-hover effect: When hovering over a gif it becomes bigger: I would not do that as it suggests interactivity, but there is nothing to do here
    • Pricing: When I see a «Start free» button at the hero section of a website I instantly search for a «Pricing» menu item at the top. I always prefer this to be easy to discover (instead of having to scroll through the page to find out how much the app costs after the trial).

I don’t fully understand the concept of the garden. I think you earn diamonds for ticking off tasks, and you can buy different plants in exchange for the diamonds. Does the garden «live» somehow? I am thinking of Tamagochis here …

Overall I really like the concept, it feels fresh! If you need further feedback please let me know.

Roast time, I couldn't ready any of the text with all of the animation starting at the same time. Light mode still has dark mode GIFs. The header feels like a search bar.

    Opinions for changes:
Animation shouldn't all start at the same time, use it to guide the user's eye. Ditch the confetti as the first GIF.
The plant a garden doesn't see like its that valuable (move it to last) -- idk if any customer looks at that and gets activation energy but can see that it can create stickiness.

I love this idea, i'll opt into getting roasted as well. Here it is : https://getallspark.co/

For the animations, are you talking about the 3 GIFs after the fold?

Thanks for the straightforward feedback, Yonz!
