Roast my landing page please and I'll roast yours!

We are just about to launch The Complete Passive Investing Mini-Course. Looking to get some feedback on the landing page.

I have to say thank you to all the IHers for producing a lot of great landing pages that gave me some ideas for what I wanted to do. I would not say I am a CSS or JS wiz, but I do like to make things look appealing, be understandable, and have a clear value proposition.

Hope you find our landing page is just that, and look forward to roasting yours as well ;)
Also, feel free to sign up now (even though we haven't officially launched yet)!

I recorded my first impressions of the page as I went through it. It's mostly me rambling but maybe it'll be helpful. https://www.loom.com/share/84a71019c09c4a17a23551fe9c5084e9

Hi Corinn, thanks again for the feedback!
I added an intro video that explains what the course covers, and shows how this course was made by people from business and non-business backgrounds and how we were able to grow our networth from $0 to over 6 figures in 5 years. Hopefully this shows that we are passionate and have some knowledge of the space without coming across as cocky.
If you have a minute, it would be great to hear your thoughts on the updated landing page!

OMG this intro video is great! I like how you cover the problem, agitate it a bit, and then provide the solution. Classic PAS!

I think if people were to watch that, they'd go "yes! I can totally relate and think this course would be great!".

If they don't watch it though, it's a little less compelling. Maybe you can snag some of the script and its themes and sprinkle it elsewhere on the page as well

p.s I tried to email you back but the message bounced. Said that "the email account that you tried to reach does not exist". I'd be open to giving it a try :-)

          1. 1

Sorry about that, I just emailed you again!

      Hi Corinn,
Thank you so much for the feedback, I really liked the video format!
I'll incorporate your points about making it obvious that this is a problem for many people and perhaps try to show how much money this knowledge helped me make in a non-flashy way (not sure the best way to do this but I'll give it a try!).

    Zack,

Great landing page. Simple and straight forward.
My favorite piece of copy is “10 times more value to you than you pay for this course over the next 5 years.” - there is something there that could be a headline.

The only critical feedback I could give is sell the result a bit and the only thing holding me back from personally buying is I would want to see a sample lesson or something.

Would love feedback as well - lionleads.app

    Thank you!

      Great feedback, thank you!

      Here is your roast.
Overall: Cool product, I like how you can directly type in a domain and get some results to test out the product.
      Roast:

      1. I'd like to see some testimonials. This product seems cool but I would need some social proof.
      2. Add pricing page. I really don't like tools like this that aren't upfront about their pricing. Or at least tell me you do custom pricing on a case-by-case basis, but ideally, a fixed base price would be nice to see.
      3. More stats about the value proposition. If I use your tool and send out a 1000 emails, are most of them marked spam? I'd like to know more details about how much money this tool has made for other people.

        Great feedback!

I don’t have any customers yet, so still working on social proof and stats.

Currently I am offering free access while I test if people would want it, but to your point I don’t explain that at all. I gotta try to revise the copy to explain that at the beginning. I definitely don’t like hidden pricing at all either :-)

Hi Stephen, thanks again for the feedback.
I updated the landing page to include the an intro video and sample video for preview.
If you have a minute, it would be great to hear what you think!

Above the fold was pretty good! Was clear what you are selling.

I would totally remove the "Course Learning outcomes" stuff as others have mentioned. On my big screen it is super annoying to scroll through and offers no value, I blindly scrolled through it.

I would then put the social proof horizontal instead of vertical (except mobile of course), as this would make it easier to read imo. Also not sure why one of the quotes is in a different section, maybe a mistake?

Not sure if the course instructor bio or social proof should come first, they are both pretty important. Probably doesn't matter.

I would then switch course curriculum and How we expect to add value to your life sections around. Tbh I am MUCH more interested in the course curriculum and was happy to see it laid out clearly.

Here is some data we have to show you why we think this course is worth your time.

How many students have taken the course? I feel that number being hidden is fishy if you say you have data.

The price is $25 for the next 25 students, after which it will go up to $30.

This text is not centered. Also would be cool to have a "x seats left" to increase sense of urgency. Doesn't have to be super real as long as it is approximate.

    Hope this helped!

(would love a critique of our site if you get a chance: https://kbee.app)

Thanks for feedback, all great points!
      Here is your roast.
Overall: Very cool product, I like that it is a fremium model.
      Roast:

      1. I would lose the bouncy animation.
      2. Adding testimonials would help me as a customer.
      3. Adding a 1-2min video that demos the product for an example use case would be super helpful. I think this is a product that a customer might need to see it in action to have that "ah-ha!" moment.
      4. Who is Simplemnt? Is this showing how you can customize kbee? Found this picture a bit confusing.
    2. 2

Hey I really like your site. It is pretty straight forward to navigate. I also think that the Go from this... to this... diagram totally made me understand what your product was about.

If I was to look at it critically, I would say that the copy could use some fine tuning.
"Build a branded and searchable knowledge base using Google Docs" Has a bit too much jargon for my taste. I would fine tune that to have more basic language.

Also the long copy in "Why Build Your Help Center with Google Docs?" is too long for a landing page. Can you diagram some of this, make it something that takes under 5 seconds to consume?

Lastly, definitely remove the bouncy animations on the links to the examples, when it comes to animations, err in the side of subtlety.

Thanks for the feedback! It was very useful!

      Hi Sandeep,
      Thanks again for your advice.
I removed "Course learning outcomes", put all the testimonials together, moved my bio up the page , and put "x seats remaining".
All great points. If you have a minute you can see the updated landing page here:

        Looks way better!!!

    Hi Zachary,
I like the landing hero, there's a great hierarchy to the visual elements, quite professional overall I must say!
However, I thought the text in the following sections was too large, for example, the "Course Learning Outcomes" text (initially I thought my browser's zoom level was set too high for some reason) was too large and could easily be condensed to take up less screen space.

Really liked the illustrations beside each learning outcome, they helped add some great visual elements to the sections.

The remainder of the landing looks great, and the social proof such as the testimonials from others etc is always fantastic to see, and will help persuade buyers too.

Awesome, thank you for the feedback!

No problem, glad to help! :-)

Hey, here’s my roast to you...

I’m using Safari on the iPad and no css loads. Maybe you could work on fixing that? I’ve reloaded multiple times and my internet connection is just fine for other sites.

    Here’s mine: https://fiwl-js.github.io

(Don’t worry about the “ Get started in seconds” part. That’s just fake Lorem ipsum commands. )

    Thanks!

Hi Brayden, thanks again for the feedback.
I think the issue was I was using an iframe, which Safari and Firefox did not like.
I have removed it so hopefully things look cleaner now.

    2. 1

Thanks for the feedback, working on a fix for Safari and Firefox.
      Here's my roast.
      Overall: Interesting idea.
      Roast:

      1. Too much whitespace at the top when I first open the page.
      2. Make the animation a bit bigger or more zoomed in, it's hard to see exactly what's happening.
      1. 1

Thanks so much! We're still in the beta stage so all feedback is helpful :)

Hi Anil, thanks again for the feedback.
I removed the "course outcomes", and added the intro video and let a viewer preview the first lecture of the course.
If you have a minute, you can check out the updated landing page here: https://compoundconfidence.com/p/passive-investing-mini-course

Thank you again for your help!

Great feedback, thanks Anil! Working on the introduction video still, will upload it ASAP.

      • I will try to tighten up the text and pictures for the infographic to make it less work for people's eyes (great point I did not consider).
      • I'll try to get more detailed social proofs.
      • On the value offering, was their a part in particular that wasn't delivered? We try to show our value using student feedback. Was that not helpful?
