Roast my landing page redesign

Hey IH,

I recently redesigned the landing page for my SaaS.

I'd love some feedback! I've tried to make it more clear and obvious what the product does, but I'd love some feedback from you all.

It is clear what MONN does?

Thanks!
Harrison

Overall it's good, what is unclear to me is what exactly is MONN monitoring, e.g. what metrics?

Also it could be good to add a comparison page to datadog, newrelic, etc..

    1. 1

I see, that makes sense! I will start thinking of how to better communicate this.

FYI it connects to cloud providers (ie: vercel, render) and checks to make sure your recent deployments are OK. It also monitors latency and uptime of your apps and websites.

Is there anything else you think I should adjust?

  2. 4

I'm falling to understand what is the pain you are trying to solve. Why is monn useful ?

    1. 1

thanks for the feedback! I guess this is something I need to address better. IMO two things.

      1. existing monitoring tools like new relics, datadog etc are pretty complex and require setup and integrating into your app. To get started with MONN you just need to add API keys to wherever you host your app and it will automatically start monitoring uptime / latency / deployments etc.
      2. I think there can be a lot of decision fatigue associated with existing monitoring. there are APMs like datadog, newrelic etc. there are also uptime monitors like uptime robot, pingdom etc. So as an engineer / founder you need to decide what kind of monitoring you want. MONN is easy to get started with and 0 configurations, it basically handles everything for you so you can just "start monitoring".

what do you think? do you have any experience with this problem / any ideas on how I could address these pain points better?

      1. 1

I see, the issue with that is your ideal customer, must be a engineer that doesn't want to deal with pingdom and datadog at the same time.

How could you improve your pitch to catch a more broad customer base? Is it possible to spread this sale pitch on teaching the lead why monitoring is important ?

Could you also attach your pitch to why having you SaaS on my SaaS pipeline will help to do something better that I don't know what is ?

        1. 1

thank you for your detailed reply Arthur. I will start making some adjustments!

  3. 2

    Love the redesign!

I would love to know "Who is this product for?" when reading the home page

    1. 1

thank you Dom! I think I could definitely improve my positioning a lot. IMO right now it's for saas founders or engineers in small teams who want a simple and easy to set up way to monitor their cloud infra

  4. 2

Great layout for the landing page, a little too nice even :) I am curious, what tool did you use to make this page?

    1. 1

hahaha thank you! It's built with NextJS and TailwindCSS + a lot of components from TailwindUI

  5. 2

The landing page looks fine. I would love that if you add some rotating animations for monitoring SAAS products, etc. If you have already granted some beta access to some users, add there reviews at the footer or above the footer to catch the user's attention and in exchange they enroll for the wait list. Although it's fine, but I don't think that adding the links to every blog post is necessary to add in the footer. Instead of that add a single link to the blog page.

    1. 1

thank you! I'm planning to start onboarding beta users soon, which is when I will collect some testemonials.

  6. 2

Hey! I took a look at your website and left 10 comments on Markup to give you some feedback on your landing page design, courtesy of roasti.co - you can find them here: https://app.markup.io/invite/accept/CcKrx3PJ

I hope you'll find my feedback helpful!

    1. 1

wow thank you! this is some great feedback! I've already adjusted the hero cta and I'm pushing it now!

      1. 1

No problem! I'm glad you found my feedback helpful, I'll take another look in a bit. 👍

        1. 2

It was some great feedback! I've made a couple of adjustments, mainly to the social proof & CTAs. don't have time to do the rest now but I will!

          1. 1

Starting to look much better already! I left you one more comment that I think will tie it all together. 👌

            1. 2

thanks so much for your tips! just been working through them. and I've bookmarked roasti.co if I need more help in the future!

              1. 1

Hey man! I just reached out to you via email regarding showcasing Monn.app on Roasti.co, we would love to have your site featured!

              2. 1

It's looking awesome! The black integration section looks so sick now, glad you found my feedback helpful. Looking forward to it, reach out anytime!

  7. 2

    Pretty! Where are the testimonials?

    1. 1

where are they indeed! I haven't collected any yet since we haven't brought in our first beta users. Any ideas on how we could get some? Otherwise I'll be adding some soon.

      1. 1

You need to find testimonials that address the value prop you're trying to sell to your audience. You need to be picky with your testimonials, if they suck no one will read them and it will be a waste of homepage space and your own time effort.

The people whose testimonials end up on your homepage should be from the most credible people you can find.

Testimonials themselves (the content) must address the value proposition and its benefits, highlighting at least one of your selling points.

The author's details must be known by the audience that you want to convert into customers.

Scenario A: Say you're working on a new 🚀 spaceship fuel. You post the idea on Twitter with your landing page and what-not.....a bunch of people reply to your tweet with "neato, love this idea, we need better fuel to go to mars"....you take the tweets and put them on your homepage..

        🧨 WRONG!
That is because Susan N. and Mike V. from unknowntech are hard to relate with, but everyone knows about NASA, SpaceX, and BlueOrigin.

It is not simple feat to gather a testimonial from a person such Elon Musk, but there are a lot of people out there that you can reach out to from credible and reputable companies in your same business vertical.

If you think that can’t possibly have Elon Musk as a testimonial, how do you find OTHER testimonials?

        Here’s what I do:

        • Create a list of people who you think would be a perfect testimonial: make sure these people are in your industry (for the product you’re selling) and are reachable within the limits of your network.

        • Analyze the network and reverse engineer a path to them: using tools like LinkedIn you can see how many degrees of separation you are away from being able to reach out to the person whose testimonial you want.

        • Contact them: If they reply with a yes, schedule/send your invite for call/video/in-person (right, sometimes if they're in the same city this works) and have a chat with them/show them screenshots/bring notes, have them play with the idea of your product and ask them for a testimonial!

        1. 1

thanks for the great info! I will be sure to use this process when we start onboarding beta users

  8. 2

The website does seem user-friendly and it includes a blog section as well (a very nice thing to add.) However I would suggest 3 things:

    1. Make categories of the blog so it is easier for the user to navigate what kind of a blog he/she wants to read.
    2. Add a demo video of the tool, so when a first time potential customer comes, he gets an overview of how to use the product.
    3. Try translating the website into different languages as well, you will be able to reach more people with that
  9. 2

The design is great. It is clear what you do. But if you're a developer, you probably know other thousand tools that do the same. So instead of explaining what it is, I would relate to my unique value proposition.

    1. 1

yep makes sense @alvarovillalbaa, thanks for the feedback! FYI the value prop is 1. combines monitoring from multiple platforms into 1 hub & 2. more advanced stats and notification options than you get from there.

I agree it needs some rework! thank you!

  10. 2

    Wow that is CLEAN!!!

  11. 2

I found the landing page to be neat, clean, and easy to understand

  12. 2

    Looks really good!

Anyway to include which metrics are tracked?

    1. 1

i'm going to add metrics — you and a few others have suggested them. thanks!

  13. 2

Congrats on your project! The design and the copy are great!

I left some ideas what I would change here - https://visualdebug.com/show/monn.app

    1. 1

Fantastic tool just to debug in public!

    2. 1

thank you! i'll check them out. cool tool btw!

  14. 2

Hi, in my opinion the landing page looks really great. In 3 seconds I know what MONN is for. Like @arthurbarros said you should somehow tell to users why MONN is useful.

    1. 1

I'm getting a lot of feedback about this so I'm going to start working on it now. Thank you! Is there anything else you think I should add?

      1. 1

For this moment I don't see any other areas to improve :)

  15. 1

I do a bunch of infrastructure/observability in a big corp, and for me it was super clear the value add of this (essentially 1-click monitoring across a diverse set of heterogeneous PAAS providers).

One comment: "Just copy and paste your API keys into MONN to get started." This is very scary. You definitely need to clarify the level of access you need, otherwise people will leave immediately.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback @jeadie — i've added a new faq section to the landing page to clarity that and security.

      TLDR:

      • API access is read-only (only) — we just pull in data
      • API keys are encrypted in db

does that address your point? or did I miss something?

Glad you find the value prop clear though. What sort of tools do you use to do this sort of monitoring at your company?

      1. 1

Yep, that's all you needed to say (see the website for usage ai, for example).

I've never made great use of PAAS services (or multiple), tending to stick with big cloud providers. Because of this, we have either a) used the cloud providers monitoring tools b) had dedicated internal teams building custom monitoring c) open-source self hosting (open telemetry).

  16. 1

Hello, this is Deluar digital business adept, I'm here to roast your landing page redesign. Here are some of my comments:

    • The headline is vague and does not communicate the value proposition of your product. What is Monn? How does it help me save money and time? Why should I care?

    • The sub-headline is also unclear and does not explain how Monn works or what features it offers. What are the smart tools and insights that Monn provides? How do they help me manage my finances better?

    • The generic hero image does not showcase your product or its benefits. It looks like a stock photo that could be used for any financial app. Why not use a screenshot or a video of your app in action instead?

    • The call to action button is too small and does not stand out from the background. It also uses passive language that does not create a sense of urgency or excitement. Why not use a larger button with a contrasting color and a more compelling text like "Start saving now" or "Get Monn for free"?

    • The social proof section is weak and does not provide any specific or credible testimonials from your users. Who are these people and why should I trust them? What results did they achieve with Monn? How did Monn solve their problems or improve their lives?

    • The feature section is boring and does not highlight the unique selling points of your product. It uses generic icons and text that do not convey the benefits or advantages of your product over the competition. Why not use more descriptive icons and text that show how your product helps me save money, track my spending, set goals, etc.?

    • The footer is missing some important elements like a privacy policy, terms of service, contact information, social media links, etc. These are essential for building trust and credibility with your visitors and potential customers.

Overall, your landing page redesign needs much improvement to make it clearer, more engaging, and more persuasive. You should focus on communicating the value proposition of your product, showcasing its features and benefits, providing social proof and credibility, and creating a strong call to action. 17. 1

Your site is gorgeous and simple to read, love it.

    • What did you use to build it?
    • I see that you have 3 "... monitoring guide" pages that look like little SEO landing pages. I'm about to try this technique on my site. How are they working for you so far?
    1. 2

And yeah the 3 articles were for some early SEO. They've been going OK — I'm actually planning to return to them to try and improve them. The bigger driver of SEO has been writing and sharing good blog articles.

      1. 1

Thanks for the info! Where do you typically share your blogs at?

    2. 2

thanks! It's built with NextJS and tailwindcss and lots of custom code :) initially I used this template — https://tailwindui.com/templates/primer — and I've modified it heaps

  18. 1

I would add some color to the CTA buttons to draw the eye there

The h1 would be better if it talked about the benefit of your tool, not just the feature

    Otherwise, looks good

  19. 1

Looks great! I intentionally haven't read the comments so that I'm not biased, but I don't know what you're solving with monitoring. Monitoring costs? Auto-scaling? What makes it specific to SaaS? I see latency and commits/deployments but I don't think most people are going to make it to the pictures to de-code. The value add of cross-platform does come across though.

  20. 1

If I am asking this correctly, this isa cloud monitoring tool for SaaS companies.

I think that you mentioned a content problem that you can solve and onboard many more subscribers via Inbound Growth.

You can create a podcast and YouTube video series around "How to Get Started with Cloud Monitoring".

  21. 1

Looks great. One piece of feedback I have is that it's not clear how I actually install Monn. Is it an SDK? Are there docs for me to get a better sense of how the integration works? As an engineer I want to know if I'm looking at a one-line install of a public package and what kind of initialization does it require?

    1. 1

Ah ok thanks for the info! I'm probably going to add a 'getting started' section or something. FYI all you need to do is copy/paste your API keys from your different services into MONN and it will automatically start monitoring for you

  22. 1

Hey the landing page looks very very good!

On the features and unique selling propositions I am wondering whether Email notification is a strong sell, because for Vercel for example I also get notifications when deployment failed. In general the value proposition is not clear to me.

Is the differentiator then in the fact that this works for multiple platforms (e.g. users can connect both vercel and heroku at the same time and it is streamed to monn)?

Or is it the time reduced? Something like 20 % less time spent on deployment compared to <competitor>...

Or are you able to provide advanced analytics on top of it that other providers are not?

    1. 2

thanks for the feedback! mostly the 1st and 3rd points. Rather than having things spread across multiple platforms (render, vercel, heroku etc.) everything is in one central hub.
We can also provide more advanced analytics like uptime monitoring, global latency monitoring and stat breakdowns like successful vs. failed deploys, avg deploy time etc. Also planning to add more notification options like slack, WhatsApp and SMS. Do you think these sound compelling? or not enough vs. standard vercel etc.

      1. 1

For me in terms of notification Email is enough. I might not be the optimal target group as I am very new to the topic of deployment. So far I only have experience with AWS and Vercel - but for separate projects. I would be most interested in the advanced analytics across all platforms. Maybe a report send by mail could be interesting. So in addition to warnings like a monthly report including historical and upcoming cost projections? Again, I might not be your target group, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. But I can do a reachout to some of my developer friends and ask them for feedback.

        1. 1

cost projections are very intersting! I hadn't thought of looking into that aspect, thanks for the idea! Yeah, if you could share this with your developer friends and ask for some feedback that would be amazing!

  23. 1

This looks very good! A couple of minor suggestions:

"that directly connects to all your cloud platforms" - "connects" is kind of vague, can you be more specific? Maybe "it combines monitoring for all your cloud platforms"

You say it connects to all cloud platforms, but in the list, I don't see the big ones (AWS/GCP/Azure)

In "Monitor your apps, deploys & uptime." The ping from 1m ago that's flashing: It's flashing so it's lighter/more difficult to see, which de-emphasizes it. Maybe try making it flash in way that highlights it more

Notify by e-mail: I often mute my email to not get distracted. Maybe you could use push notifications or a paging service?

    Hope this helps!

  24. 1

It looks super professional. Congrats on the design.

I would add a list of key metrics Monn monitors and alerts to showcase value.
Also, the platform logos (Vercel, Heroku etc) seem to be large on mobile.

    1. 1

thank you for the excellent feedback! i'll have a think about how to communicate the key metrics better.
in the meantime, I just pushed a fix for the logo images on mobile. let me know if it looks ok now. thanks!

  25. 1

It looks pro, but could benefit from some character - as currently feels a bit corporate and doesn't communicate authentic value.

    1. 1

makes sense! i will adjust things

  26. 1

:) its minimum and love it .. you did a good job actually .... btw whats the base font ?

  27. 1

I would definitely say it looks better than mine.
    My review --

    1. It successfully conveys what you are doing and how you are doing. You have shown a dashboard image which is really nice.
    2. I don't like the footer section though. It is very unevenly distributed. Could be better in terms of design.
    3. Also why is there no join waitlist button there? I have built my landing page, I made sure there are as many buttons as possible for the user to join the early access.
    4. Do you have social pages like Instagram, facebook? If yes why don't I see any link for the same
  28. 1

Firstly well done, I think your landing page is very well executed and the product itself seems very useful!

To answer your question, I think it could be clearer what MONN does by rewording the text above the fold to something like "MONN is the only cloud monitoring tool that directly connects to all your cloud platforms and alerts you of uptime issues immediately" or something like that so it's clear what the actual value proposition is to someone who isn't familiar with monitoring tools.
