Hey Everyone!
I'm building an MVP for a side project born from my pain π
My aim initially was to build something for myself. So I made something quick. When I shared it with some friends and colleagues, they also liked it.
I am now extending it further to allow for multiuser support etc.
π Link: https://www.fleetingnote.com/
This is the first time I have done an end-to-end copy+build+ launch.
It would be super awesome to have feedback on the following:
π Do you understand what the product is?
π Is the messaging on the pain points and value proposition clear?
π What do you think of the overall copy?
π What do you think of the pricing strategy?
I would love to hear your critique, feedback & advice.
I am a big fan of the note app from apple, a realy big fan but i also love that is available on pc in icloud but when the storage is full it wont be available anymore on icloud so i thought with your promissing words, it could be an better alterntive (i also thought about building one, but didnt do it for now)
so coming to your landing page is a bit disturbing, the animated images are a bit of a horrormovie style in my opinion. Also the whole website looks a bit old like from 2016. You should get some designideas on dribbble.
i saw on your website, that you wrote in the 'i'/me perspective, dont do that, that lets the app seem small (one person app) even if thats the case its allways not good for sales/marketing.
So you told on the website the app is modern, but when i watched the video it seemed like a realy realy first stage of your app, i wouldnt use that sidenavigation thats pretty old and not that nice for mobile. I think you should take a look at the apple notes app, how they did it.
The pricing is also pretty high compared to other notes apps and your costs, its not that much of a cost to host some text to take that much money monthly.
i hope that helped, i didnt say anything good because i dont want you to feel like there is nothing more to do. Keep it up i would love to see an apple notes app alternative :)
This is very helpful. The feedback that I am receiving is helping me shape the design, copy and pricing.
I am self-taught on the design and copy side. So I wanted to get the page out quickly and get early feedback.
Thank you very much @jonassc !
I'm sipping my morning coffee and looking at your landing page. I didn't ready our description here at all, because I want to experience the website in a way any regular user would.
I find it ironic, and not entirely in a good way, that it says "A beautiful notetaking app" yet at the same time it shows very 2003's low quality black and white animated gif of a light bulb next to it. I got the idea, but the animated gif looks just anything but beautiful.
The "tell me more" CTA button is entirely unnecessary.
The animated gif of the shower head is weird and reminds me of the shower stabbing scene in Psycho. Again, I understand what you are trying to do ("we get good ideas in shower"), but it just doesn't work for me.
It wasn't until I clicked to play the Sneak Peak video until I realized this is a phone app. Nowhere in the landing page does it say this is a phone app. Now that I know that, I still don't know which platforms you are supporting.
The massive CTA for signing up for early access does not provide any incentives for me to sign up. There are also no indications of what are you going to do with my email address. There is not even any Privacy Policy anywhere on the website. It might even be illegal in some locations to collect user information like this, without providing a privacy policy.
In FAQ, I'm told this is not a phone app after all. You should provide the actual factual information "what is this" a bit earlier and clearer.
Also, overall, I find it a bit odd that your pitch is that this is a "beautiful app", yet the website is almost monochrome. If you are pitching this to be pretty, the website should look better. For example, use more colors.
I think this could be a good idea, the landing page needs more polishing.
You have highlighted some fundamental gaps and breaks on the page, and I will look to correct them shortly.
I am self-taught on the design and copy side. I wanted to get the page out quickly to start getting early feedback.
The feedback from you and other fabulous folks here on IH helps me iterate the page and idea quickly.
Thank you so much, @jv16; this is extremely helpful!
I think you did an outstanding job! It was very clear and easy to understand what your product offers. I also like how you incorporated your pain points into the reason you decided to create FleetingNote.
Only concern I have:
Will people actually pay for this when they could use a Notes feature on their mobile? Mind you, the $5 price point per month is not bad at all so I guess it's plausible.
Move forward with this and see what happens :)
Thank you @revenuereg!
Yes, I initially built this just for myself.
I am evaluating a minimal free vs unlimited paid tier to see if the idea is monetisable. I will continue to test the market with this landing page and evolve it.
Loving building in public and receiving early feedback.
Thank you for the encouragement!
I think you should move your demo video to the top section because i didn't understand what your product was until I saw the video
Oh, I see; thank you @tornadoe!
I will look at moving the demo up on the page.
