Hi Eric,
the focus ("for tech professionals who want to work in Japan.") it's not clear.
If the target is that specific don't hide it.
In the headline you can write something like: "Looking for a tech job in Japan?"
This way if I've that problem, you get my attention.
This to me is the main limit of the page.
The rest of the page is good.
To make the newsletter more compelling add a section for the uniqueness.
What differentiate Japan Dev from any other Jap-tech (is it a word?) newsletter? If you make it clear a reader will have no choice but to subscribe.

I agree the current copy isn't very compelling... I've been struggling to find a way to explain the value succinctly.
Basically in Japan there are two types of companies: traditional tech companies and more modern tech companies. Most foreigners wouldn't enjoy working at a traditional company (long hours, low pay, 100% Japanese environment etc). There are tons of traditional companies so it's hard to avoid them and find jobs at modern companies (i.e. the companies that are actually a good place to work for foreigners).
The goal of Japan Dev is to showcase curated jobs at modern companies ONLY. Other job boards are full of crappy jobs b/c they just post anything as long as the company's willing to pay. We analyze every company and only post jobs from the ones w/ international environments, high salaries etc.
That's our main differentiator (besides being in English), but it's hard to explain without all the above context...
Please let me know if you have any ideas :D

In Japan there are 2 kinds of tech companies:
1. old ones -> they'll treat you as a slave,
2. modern ones -> they will respect your talent.
Japan Dev is the only place where you'll find job offers selected exclusively from the modern ones (aka international environments, high salaries etc.).
Do you want to enjoy the japanese lifestyle while working in an exciting tech company, jump on board.
