Roast My Personal Finance Tool

https://spendlight.com

I've recently updated our landing page to show examples of the tool itself. I've struggled to convey the "new idea" or "secret sauce" in an effective manner.

  • What could help folks "get it" right upfront?
  • What part doesn't make sense?
  • What else did you want to know?

Hi! I looked at your site. Overall it is beautiful, it even has a demo! I like it.

I have few suggestions, I listed them down below.

    About the content:

    • "... that helps you understand and improve your spending behavior." How does it help me improve my spending behavior? As I see there is no special feature, maybe the summary one, but my bank app on my phone can show a summary/statistics any time too.
    • I think the phone on the right side should redirect to the demo page no matter what I click on.
    • The "Try the Demo" button should be bigger.
    • Is weekly the only summary option? What about daily or monthly?
    • "Our Unique, Brain-Rewiring Approach" section
      • The icons aren't straight forward.
      • The content could be rethought. Two things don't fit here, they are special functions which need special highlight. The two things: you can connect with friends, no install necessary. These are very cool and useful functions, they are important. However, it doesn't match with the power/energy of "#NOSPEND" or a repeated "Self-evaluation" section.
    • Will be there alternative ways to create an account? For example: Facebook, Google. People tend to like that more.
    • Do you guys have any testimonials? If you do, then put it out here for sure!

    Technical:

    • I think you should disable the scrolling of the page when the navigation bar hamburger menu is opened (on small screens).
    • The buttons are too small under the carousel at "How It Works". Run a Lighthouse test: "Tap targets are not sized appropriately".
    • On smaller screens put the footer links under each other. Currently, the texts wrap and it looks ugly.
    • Lots of contrast ratio issues. Check CSS Overview.

Really appreciate the consideration, Ryan. Very helpful remarks. My 13-year-old son is running "product and marketing" and will be very thankful for this feedback. I'll have him connect when he gets back from summer camp this week.
