A little background-
Cow hides were previously an animal byproduct that ended up in landfills because of the recent plunge in leather values. Me and my co-founder are setting out to upcycle this nutrient-dense product that has previously been discarded into a healthy & tasty snack.
Beyond the positive environmental impact, we identified a bankruptcy crisis affecting many farms across the United States. Most notably, in the Pacific Northwest there was a 109% increase in farm bankruptcies from 2019 to 2020. This is only set to increase as farms struggle to stay afloat during the pandemic. We’re setting out to help them generate revenue from a waste product and gain their economic independence back.
Would you try these as a healthier alternative to pork rinds? Possibly a replacement?
