Roast my product & site - descriptive search for long videos

https://tingy.video

Currently at the MVP stage and hoping to iterate based on feedback. I won't describe the product too much here. Feel free to sign up and try the product with a video. First month is free with the code EARLYBIRD and you can cancel immediately.

This is a really cool idea! Last year I tried to start an app that recorded family histories and something to parse through archives and find specific clips like this would've been a cool add-on.

I was able to understand the value after reading through the whole page, but is there any way to have a demo of the UI or something like that upfront? Like a short video with a prompt to try a search box? Even if it were kinda faked (you just hand-code the sections of the video it maps to) it might make for a compelling way to understand the product.

As the customer I'd also like more signs about whether this product is for me. Like who is the target audience? Video archivists? People who watch a gazillion hours of Youtube? Whoever it is, make it easier for these people to self-identify as your customers upfront and in clear way. If you don't know what will allow them to do that then go find more customers to talk to!

      Thanks for the great points.

I'm going to add a demo video - something very short that also shows the output clearly.

As for the intended customer, I'm still pinpointing the exactly but right now I see two groups:

      • people with large video archives
      • scrubbing/searching through long (home) security videos

There needs to be some kind of "try it here" example; without the need to sign up and upload all of my videos. For example, have some videos of a tour through a Zoo and you can search for the Cheetah or the Elephant or where to buy an ice cream cone and it skips to the right point in the video.

Thanks for the feedback. Still working on the other bits of feedback here - but I've now also added a free trial. Any user can try the service for free for 7 days, no card required. Aiming to persuade more users to try it this way.

Hey this my feedback, i hope it will help you.

    1. The main animation on the top is cool but the loop is bugged and little too fast

    2. I didn't understand at first what it would do for me. The first animation is cool but i think you should show a demo/illustration/animation of what the app do. (spoke.app)

    3. A live testor where user can upload directely their file to show the power of your application (like https://cloud.google.com/vision)

    4. Show real life use case of your application

    5. Demonstrate why using tingy can make their lives easier

      Feedback much appreciated :)

I'm working on a demo video/animation, this will hopefully replace the main animation at the top. Trying to make it look professional enough. It's also good to know that the value proposition isn't clear enough at the moment - I will iterate on that.
