Roast my SaaS

My first SaaS is finally online.. (Chrome support)
It took my about 6 weeks of intensiv work. Many days of headaches when dealing with Heroku and not less than 174 releases!

I am just glad and happy I got to this point were I can release my first version of the SaaS.

Hi Giancarlo! Congrats on the launch!

    Two things:

    1. the images loaded very slowly for me, esp the top one of the two CVs
    2. I can’t really tell the difference between the three images of customization

and as other mentioned, a footer would be great!

    1. 1

      Hey..
Maybe because of the image size? I don't know yet. Thanks for your feedback

  2. 3

    Congrats for your SaaS!
Here is my review in video: https://www.loom.com/share/0c2d68fb695945f3bf666a80ec73f428

I didn't try the tool though.

      Hey Joffrey!
I highly highly appreciated the video! Thank you for your valuable feedback.
I agree with you on all your points, also on the pricing strategy. The struggle with my app is that people do not come back as soon as a CV is done. A lifetime licence could do the trick.

      1. 2

Really glad that it helped, I might give it a try soon.
Keep going, you're on the right track!

I'm not big on roasting, but I'll offer up some feedback! :)

The number of happy users has the comma floating up instead of in the natural position, like: "1,800"

I think you could choose better fonts for headers/paragraph text as well.

    1. 1

      Thanks for your time Justin.
I will tackle the font as next.

Congrats on your release and hard work.

Does your CV builder work with ATS/resume scanners? If so, you should market that. If not, you should fix it. If you don’t know, you should research it and run the output through the myriad of free test scanners online.

    1. 1

I never heard about ATS/Resume scanners. But need definitely to check it out! Thank you for the input. Really helpful

  5. 2

    Congrats!
Why did you choose this pricing... it's kinda weird to have /1d /7d /1m plans...

    1. 1

I don't know for certain, but I would assume the nature of the business and the category it's serving - job searching and CV's are an as needed basis, so therefore my assumption is many people wouldn't subscribe monthly.

      1. 1

hmm I was not sure about the pricing strategy... I guess for some people it makes sense to create the CV in one day, and never show up again on my webapp. For others which are applying for jobs and maybe takes 1-2 months to find a job, want to make some changes to the CV. therefore I offer such a pricing strategy

        1. 2

fair enough :) that actually makes sense

  6. 1

website looks great , but pricing model is little weird this should be one time buy with additional price according to upgrades.

  7. 1

Nice website. What do you use on the frontend?

    1. 1

      Tailwindcss and some jquery.

  8. 1

You should add the number of jobs people have actually landed with your app.

    1. 1

I am thinking about expanding the service, to not only create but also keep track of all job application send. What do you think about that idea?

      1. 1

I like it! I've often kept a google sheet with the roles I've applied for and then the key numbers. I saw this recently on reddit. You could try emulate this image: https://i.redd.it/qkqqa7rqxho21.png

Let me know if you need a finance guy!

        1. 1

I would like to have a chat with you. Are you on Twitter? Could you reach out?

          1. 1

Hey sure, Will add my handle and email 👍🏼

  9. 1

I have to say your website looks very nice and clean. Love it.

    1. 1

Thanks for your kind words Boluski

You might want to have Privacy policy and Terms of service on the same line.

Maybe change to USD since it's in English, unless English speaking Europeans are your target.

Your register form might also want to be centered horizontally

  11. 1

    Its looking nice.
Add a favicon and some meta description and meta images.
    Kind regard.

    1. 1

Thanks Mutamuls! I just added it.

      1. 1

Seen it. Was using my website apexsoftwaredeals.com to see them.
And you may have forgotten the beautiful meta image.

  12. 1

    Congratulations but on first look

    • CTA Looks small
    • Alignment issue with CTA Box and Resume Images
    • Images are too big with respect to text
    • Footer is missing
    • Try for free should directly show me the app itself, Don't create a hindrance to login
    • You can show login once someone wants to download the cv
    • favicon missing in tab
    • Very less meta tags
    • Can choose little dark color of Primary color
    • Subtitle can create issue : "Focus on the essential part,
let the formating be our problem
      Start now for free
      " - change the color

    Thanks .

    1. 1

      Thanks for your elaborated feedback..
      I got most of it.
Unfortunately, I can't show the app itself without having to register the user.. That is a backend issue where I need an username to save the generated CV somehow.

The white text on the light gradient background is tough to see. The font in the CTA at the bottom of the page could be made larger. "Start now with your cv"

Include a privacy policy/terms links in your footer.

    1. 1

      Thanks.
I will add the privacy policy and terms of conditions right now.
