Roast my startup's Landing Page? Will give feedback as well :-]

Hi! Just trying to get some feedback - we're also working on a new page for a public roadmap. Here it is! https://www.ripplink.co/

Feedback I've already received & will be working on:

  1. Lack of details (tangible features)
  2. No clear differentiating value proposition
  3. No clear problem to what we're trying to solve

What is networking workflow? Business networking? Social media networking? Computer networking? The core problem/domain itself is not clear.

Thanks!! Yes we've been hearing that a lot. Working hard to bring more clarity!

The design of the landing page looks slick!

You could do some work on the copy; use words that people actually use in day to day conversations. "effortlessly", "brilliant user experience", "unbeaten speed" are landing page expressions that your customers wouldn't necessarily use in "real" life.

I understand the product automates my networking efforts, but... how? I didn't get that...

Your CTA at the bottom of the page doesn't look like a CTA because of the orange border of the footer, maybe move the button further up?

Something I also noticed is when hovering on the page, my cursor would randomly change and I would have tooltips showing up. Checking the developer tools shows your modal is invisible but on top of your page... You might want to change its z-index or move it outside of the view :)

My landing page is https://bkmark.io/. I'm making major changes to it at the moment following feedback from the IH community, but please let me know what you think!

    What's Awesome?
    What's Boring?
    What's Confusing?
    What Didn't you believe?

    Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for the feedback :-) going to be incorporating them ASAP.

Just checked out your landing page -- the design is definitely visually appealing and clean. I love the relatable headline -- "Saving bookmarks is easy, keeping them tidy, not so much."

I think textual content-wise in addition to the mockup at the bottom I can at least understand what bkmark.io is intended for, but I think that breaking apart the information in the mock-up at the very bottom into more bite-size pieces would help enhance retention on your site/minimize the # of people who would just exit the site due to laziness. (After all, bkmark.io is supposed to know how to help make life easier right?)

Right after the hero header, you nicely broke down the description of the core features into 3 sections (1. Bookmark from anywhere; 2. Keep your bookmarks untangled; 3. bkmark does the rest...), but again, for lazy people like me, I probably would need a visual cue along side each of the 3 sections like tangible mockup images/GIFs (honestly I think GIFs are more persuasive) because again, I'm lazy, and because I have to read code all day already, I don't want to have to stare at a landing page to read MORE words, for something that would be a "nice to have".

That being said, honestly bkmark.io is something I do see myself using a lot because I'm always having to context switch from Chrome -> Notion to add things to my reading list... I'd love to see if it can really solve my problems with browser clutter :")

So this might take a while to read...

The huge Ripplink logo at the center of the header is taking up too much space. I had to scroll a bit to see the "Automating your networking workflow, effortlessly" text.

The Call-To-Action is not immediately visible as well.

On my device there was a bit of horizontal overflow on both the desktop and mobile version.

My suggestions to improving the design are

    1. the Ripplink logo (with text) on the header should be moved to the top left corner and made much smaller and that should be the link to the index page or home route.

The space remaining in the header section should be filled with a large h1 tag with your value proposition. The h1 tag should be followed up with a small paragraph explaining what the tool is about in detail.

I would also pick a brighter shade of orange to make the calls to action and emphasised text such as the "Request Access Button in the top right " standout.

Then I think for the Request Access Modal, form elements should be the same width with a bit more padding. I looked at the site's mobile version and I liked it.

    Hey Lesley,

Loved the sophisticated design! And the continuity/congruency/cohesiveness and reinforcement around elements.

One thing that threw me was scrolling back to the top, the navigational menu disappears. I know that it makes sense aesthetically, and also with just the subtile aspect of letting people end their visit without a "struggle", people might want that. But I always default to placing a high level of importance on assisting with navigation, and I'm guessing there will be those who scroll back to the top who actually want to delve into your site more at that moment. Maybe that's become an accepted convention though? What about a longer time lapse before you collapse the menu?

One thing I truly appreciate about your chat bot in the corner is that it doesn't make visitors feel obligated whatsoever to use it, they are totally free to ignore it if they choose. I don't think site creators understand the level of intrusiveness that results when you look like you want to start an immediate conversation and people feel a level of stress when they just want to ignore that. You definitely have a good understanding of these types of dynamics!

People who have a sharp focus and a strong design sense clearly have an advantage, it gives you loads of credibility in my mind. You are in that class. So good job!

Looks like a great product right here @rasreee

    Feedback:

    • Nice color contrast
    • Nice one page structure and building blocks
    • Good use of interactive UIs, I think you can useless interaction to help people who want to stop and read
    • The CTA button underneath doesn't look like a CTA haha
    • I can see you used Segment, Intercom, Amplitude and built the site with Webflow. And I think that makes your site slow

I'm running a side project on Notion, keen to hear your feedback on the landing page as well as newsletter :)

    1. 1

hey! hope you saw my comment on one of your posts but i'm a Notion power-user so inevitably your projects intrigued me to say the least

(btw thanks for the feedback - but tbh i'm more excited by your content)

the landing page looks awesome to me - one thing i'd say would be good is making navigation between sections more accessible somehow sans-scrolling?

the section i would've liked to see more immediately (and could see myself constantly coming back to this website to refer to) is the calendar section for all the future virtual events

also the Show me the latest trends portion could even go at the hero section! because i'd probably fill that out right away

All awesome ideas @rasreee - I've added to my development pipeline!

Would be awesome to hear more opinions from you. If you're on Twitter, let's extend the conversation. Here's mine

        1. 1

Hi! Sounds great :-) I followed you. Here's mine

  6. 1

The website layout seems like you have pasted some PPT slides one after another. All the features could come into a single section (ideally in the first section) with the request access CTA (Only one button).

The video in the background is not serving any purpose. Why you ask? What happens if the video is not there?

Please work on the color scheme..

  7. 1

    Where is the link?

    1. 1

Oh my... I swear I copy and pasted it. I just edited it to include it! Sorry about that :")

      1. 2

        There are concerns

        • What is the problem?
        • Not much information on the webpage. You need to add more details to what you are offering.
        • What makes this different compared to existing services? What are you providing that other services are not?

        I hope that helps.

        1. 1

That's very helpful - thank you so much!

          RE: Lack of details
Totally agree. Working on adding in the details (AKA tangible features) alongside a new page for our public roadmap!

          RE: Differentiating value proposition
Yes I definitely see how this probably looks like LinkedIn, but hopefully once I complete the above ^ this will be more clear and feedback from the site will steer us in the right direction!

          1. 2

Cool. I look forward to your next version. I hope it goes well :)

            1. 1

Yes! Thank you thank you :-) I really appreciate it. I'll make an update when the next version comes out. Wish you a good rest of your weekend!
