Hey indiehackers,
I have read about tweet sized landing pages recently and wanted to try for our PH workbook waitlist.
A tweet sized landing page is a landing page where your character count should be less than 280 characters and copy should be less corporate-ish.
I have used this structure for our waitlist landing page. Since the character limit is 280, I have cut down a lot of extra words and characters.
And, Today we took it live and we need your feedback on the copy of the landing page.
Check it out here and share your feedback in the comments π
First of all, the concept of a 'tweet-sized' landing page is brilliant. It forces you to cut out all the marketing fluff.
My Feedback: As someone else mentioned, the title of the book is underlined, which makes my brain think it's a clickable link. I'd remove the underline and use a bold brand color instead.
Also, this product is incredibly timely for me. I'm opening up the public beta for a Next.js 16 CMS right now, and we are planning our official Product Hunt launch for a few weeks from now. Earning those top 3 spots without a massive Twitter following feels impossible.
Out of curiosity, what is the #1 mistake you see technical founders make on their PH launch day?
No need to roast. Its already amazing, keep it up.
Thanks a lot man π€
Hey Karthik,
Best of luck! π Very clear and nice tweet-sized landing page! Here are my 2 cents:
As @DylanWilson80 suggested, shortening and making the headline more punchy would probably be good. I think breaking it to 2 lines would also help (if maintaining a 2 sentence headline). My tired brain needed to read it twice to get it.
Note the capitalization of words. It seems quite random:
Depending on which title case rules you follow, you can fix it up. I personally like: "You Can Rank Top 3 on Product Hunt. Even with 0 Followers."
"workbook" should probably be capitalized as well as it is the name of the product. Also as @denno020 mentioned, this should probably not be underlined if not a link. I was also trying to click it.
"Exact" probably shouldn't be capitalized?
"Get" probably shouldn't be capitalized.
As others have mentioned, some branding and design elements can make stuff pop more and attract more attention. Can probably browse dribble or whatever for some landing page title inspirations.
On mobile views, you might want to try and manage the text (at least the title) to not jump around between lines too much. A tad more vertical spacing can also probably help a bit. Keep size and layout consistent as much as you can.
Uri
Thanks a lot for the feedback Uri.
Will work on the capitalization and the layout pattern today π€
The tweet-sized webpage offers a really good mobile UI.
Thanks a lot Ivan π€
I love the message. I would probably shorten the headline something like...
Rank Top 3 on Product Hunt.
With Zero Followers.
Just to make it a little more punchy.
Harry Dry has some excellent examples on his website. https://marketingexamples.com/landing-page
But at the same time, don't stress about it too much. It doesn't have to be perfect. That's just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the suggestion Dylan, will try to cut the headline and make it more punchy
I like the copy and the amount of information, perhaps just spread your layout, space things out to use more of the page... so your content (and viewers) can breath! Looking forward for the final product!
Okay, Will try to add paddings and margins between the elements and expand it. Thanks for the suggestion Ian π€
I would love a taste of the book! I can see that if I sign up, I'll get access to an early bird discount, but I would really like something now, maybe a page or a chapter from the book that can "wet my whistle" while I wait, and maybe even give me a bit of value now, which will really get me excited to purchase the book when it's made available. This would only be provided should I enter my contact details :).
As for UI, the title of the book is underlined.. Underlines on the web are links, so I would suggest highlighting the title in a different way, because I did try to click on the title to see where it would take me - but obviously I didn't go anywhere :)
This is a great idea, will be completing one part of the book by today. Will add to the waitlist flow today. Thanks for the headsup man π€
I love it honestly. Since your target is Product Hunt users I would probably level up the design if anything.
Thanks Jordan, Got the feedback about design, will try to up the design.
When are you launching?
@Just_Karthik
We are planning to launch by next week.
First off, it's not easy putting something out into the world for criticism. So kudos to you.
Second, I like the copy. It's easy to read. It's short and conveys a quick message.
Third, I think it needs some branding/logo element to give it credibility. Right now, on first pass, it doesn't "feel" trustworthy as someone browsing the web and landing there.
Fourth, color palette. The red button CTA is good. But the black and white palette doesn't seem to fit the excitement of the copy itself.
Hope that helps some and good luck!
-Ben
Thanks a lot Ben. Will work on the text color paletter and add some social proof to it.
As Professional designers, it really needs some design elements to make it pop. When it stands out and not so boring it makes the users excited to sign up or whatever you might want them to do. Definitely recommend having some fun design elements on the page. Because looking at it right now doesn't get me excited, its not branded, or unique. Just words on a page. Hopefully this helps! Excited to see what you might come up with!
Thans for your feedback, will try to add some fancy design elements.
Confess ... just confess ... all you want is our emails ... confess and you will be forgiven. LOL :)
ok let me check your PH waiting list ...
... found a little bug in ... "join the wailist" ... wai list or wait list :)
my next question is ... why a wait list ? i hate wait lists ... it looks like i am in a hospital ... or you have or you don't have it ... better to show a demo or something ... don't put people on hold ... only your mother-in-law ... LOL :)
i saw the word ... workbook ... why do i need a workbook in product hunt ? to see launch steps ? then you call it ... product launch steps (PLS) ... books are for libraries ...
and then you want to mix in all of that with ... templates and links ??? ... my head is getting very confused ... :)
do you think that your ideas need more working ?
Pedro
Hey Pedro,
We have changed the typo. Thanks for pointing it out.
If we write tasks instead of steps will it makes sense? Also what if we name the product Product Hunt playbook instead of Product Hunt workbook?
playbook ... looks you are in a game ... maybe we all are :)
anothers to consider ... play manual ... instructions manual ... stepbystep manual ... hunt sequence ... launch sequence ... launch steps ... product construction steps ...
Pedro
Thanks for the suggestions Pedro, we will consider them and work on the name
