Roast: Talloc | Time Allocated

https://www.talloc.app/

Hey IH Team,

I've been treating my time like a nutritional pyramid for the last 6 years, doing my best to e̶a̶t̶ live a well balanced diet.

Would love your feedback on the latest landing page - does it make sense? Is it compelling? 🙏

Hope you have an awesome week!

In your demo i see too much information, i think you should break it down into Daily, Weekly, Monthly ,Yearly views. Use tabs to switch between those modes.
It's too much information into one screen that new users get overwhelmed.

When i read your intro in the Hero page it's not clear what you offer. You should describe it as a time management solution or something like that.

      Great feedback, thanks Marcio!

If there was a wizard/walkthrough when you visited the demo, do you think that would help? Or it would be better to just have them completely separate?

      1. 2

Wizards and walkthroughs are for complex apps. I think the amount of features you have could be simplified to a point that it becomes simple and obvious how it's being used.

Less information showing means less confusion.

For example do they really need the analytics part? Or can it be in it's own page/tab ?
Do we need the breakdown of this week or should it have it's own page/tab?

When showing a page what is the action the user will do. If it's just updating the timeline then only show information related to that. Don't try to do too many things in one page otherwise as you expand functionality it will start to be too crowded.

If he wants to see current breakdown of the week there should be a place he can go or click to see that. So split things based on their usage.

A feature that might be useful eventually could be to add notes to blocks and be able to see the notes in an overview somehow. Might be overkill but eventually you want to be able to explain what you did also.

You will need to think of the flow also of the app. You don't want to make it such that in the end people have to do too much to track their time. Having tools like chrome extension or widgets could help people add block quicker than jumping all the time to the website.

Totally understand the fundamental HCI questions being asked here but I'd argue that having analytics always present is actually a feature, not a bug. Ex) I look at the data every single time I add a block to see if I'm on track for the day. This is the desired feedback loop.

Agree on more avenues to input the data - thank you!

I very much like the product idea, I think it needs some polishing and better targeting, but it is very interesting.

    I left some ideas here - https://visualdebug.com/show/talloc.app

Appreciated it, thanks Stan! Also great way to look back to VisualDebug - perfect use case!

    Quick roast by Diabolic Design.

    1. While reviewing the website on mobile devices, I noticed several issues.
    2. One element appears to be too wide, causing the page to stretch horizontally.
    3. The images don't scale properly and appear blurry.
    4. If the app is meant to manage tasks, I'd like to understand how it's better than Google Calendar. Currently, I don't see what makes it significantly superior to existing solutions.
    5. I noticed a lack of consistency in the styling of input fields and buttons.
    6. There is no information about the company, such as an address or email where complaints or feedback can be submitted.
    7. Although there are still many areas for improvement, it's not too bad for a start.

I hope this provides the expanded feedback you were looking for. Let me know if you have any further suggestions or questions!

If you appreciate my feedback, feel free to upvote my comment or follow me :)

      Thanks, Demonic!

Odds you can share the mobile device you're using? Had previously tested across a bunch of different sizes and didn't have any issues with horizontal overflow or image scaling 🤔

Not meant to manage tasks, but to manage time. Will work on making this clearer!

Woof 🤦‍♂️ That's what I get for just using Chrome. Thanks!

I'm into the concept and plan on giving it a shot. It's not terribly clear to me exactly how the product works, and feels a little overwhelming to look at initially, though.

It might be cool to break up the functionality into three-or-so foundational things, and provide a quick little stylized illustrator or animation for each, separately, to help people digest how it works via smaller chunks.

Great suggestion, thank you! Almost like having a "how it works" section right after the fold and then diving into the features?
