So I've just launched my new website https://rply.co a few days ago and am yet to get my first customer :(.
I've been able to generate a small amount of traffic from IH and launching on producthunt, plus I'm trying out some Instagram ads (as it's an Instagram related service) however nothing has converted and I even have a 30 day free trial!
If anyone has some feedback on my site it would be really appreciated.
Thanks IH's
Did you do any customer interviews before starting the project?
No, I didn't do any at all. I knew it would be useful for me - and was looking for a coding project so thought I would give it a go.
There are a few competitors that do provide a similar service but at a much higher price - so that gave me an extra bit of confirmation that there was a need for services that manage Instagram comments.
Having competitors at higher prices doesn't give confirmation that a business exists at a different price range.
Building without talking to customers will leave you in the situation you're in now :) hopefully if anyone reads they can learn this lesson.
Time to call social media agencies and see if they have this problem and are they willing to pay for it.
Do you think it's always necessary to contact your target market before starting up a new service?
I've launched services before that I didn't do any prior research and they've done quite well (in other niches), usually just based on my own experiences and things that I've needed but wern't available, but then again I guess I could've just gotten lucky on those ones.
How do you usually go about contacting people you think might be interested in it to get validation?
If the product is built for you it is a lot easier. AKA i built it for SaaS companies and i already know where they hang around.
For social media tool join social media FB groups etc.
I would just google social media agencies, call them up and see if they have any problems with their current solutions.
Okay will do! Thanks for the tips :)
Alright sure, will do! Thanks for the feedback - I've already started contacting a few so let's see how it goes :)
keep us posted on the progress! :)
you target audience are not average IG users but people who have the problem of managing too many comments & reply. Assume that you get one of them, normally one IG influencer talks and advice other IG influencers. It's a small and tight-knit community.
I am working on a new referral plan.
If a $5 user refers your app to anyone he gets 10% of the other user fee. In this case its $1 from anyone who signs up for the $10 plan.
If the $10 user refer he gets 20% and $15 get 30%. It might seem that you're losing a lot of referral but if your tool is useful to one power user you might as well add incentive for them to upgrade and promote your app.
I planned this for my app tradeplan.co. Hope it helps. take care.
Yes, I do have plans on adding a referall system using refersion - which I've used before, but currently I'm just trying to get a bit more traffic to the site!
Thanks for the tips :)
What are you using to set up that referral scheme?
BTW this only works if your product is useful to the first guy. If you have an issue in the value prop, this won't help. I am not your target user so I can't help you much on the product side. I hope it helps.
I will use a promo code method and track who signup using whose promo code who used. You can give the user of Promo code 14 days free upgrade. The benefit of referral is that the guy promoting will work as your marketing guy indirectly and educate the new user he is referring to all his doubts and he is gaining for it too.
Yup, I'm not the OP. I've set up referral programs before, but was interested in a specific tool you might be using.
We'll be making an influencer pyramid scheme for an upcoming product, and I haven't found an affordable solution that does that.
