Whenever I get the chance to chat with @MicroAcquire Founder and CEO Andrew Gazdecki, I always end up with something new to think about. We recently recorded an episode of the SaaS Acquisition Stories podcast with him for MicroAcquire’s Resources blog (check it out here: https://resources.microacquire.com/startup-acquisition-episode-18/) and one big thing we talked about was failure.
I asked Andrew about his thoughts on the future of the industry. I’d been thinking about bumps in the road, and potential issues in the SaaS industry — because we haven’t seen any big downturns, we don’t know how to handle big failure. I’d just been listening to another podcast where this topic was brought up, so it was on my mind.
Andrew kind of pushed back against me on this, and I’m glad he did. He reminded me that the success rate of a startup is 10%. The industry might be trending upward, but on the individual level, it’s almost always a rollercoaster. Personally, I know some of my biggest lessons came from “failures.” While those experiences are never comfortable, they might be essential to knowing how to build a resilient business.
I’d love to hear more thoughts on this. How do you think about failure? Something invaluable, or something you would go back and change?
Always great chatting with you @KevinSureSwift!
