SaaS BUSINESS IDEA! Anyone done this yet?

Hello IHers,

I wanted to share an idea I've wanted to be a customer for! Doesn't sound like too much work but could be very relevant in today's newsletter revolution.

There is a major spike in newsletters, creators spend great effort to create/curate the best content for their readers every week. Subscribers keep getting added sporadically, so say a subscriber joining in week 3 missed week 1&2 newsletter, and the first newsletter was only showcased to a handful of people though it was insightful too (you get the gist). Substack etc have a repository of past issues of the newsletter but very few people would have the time to check the archives out.

MY POINT BEING,

What if there was a solution to also circulate archives of the newsletter the creator so chooses to be circulated to subscribers as and when they get added to the list?
The creators could utilise their content more (more impressions) and could better manage their time by sending archives + scheduling newsletters than manually send it every week, subscribers could get more content (archive+weekly newsletter) which will increase their touch with the creator.

Is someone doing this? Any better ways of doing this?

Most email service providers already offer something like this in the form of automated drip campaigns.

You can essentially write your emails once and add new subs to a drip style campaign and it'll send the emails out in order. This way all new subs could receive emails from week 1 onwards.

Okay! I've had to go through many archives, so thought of this! Thanks :)

No worries! Just wanted to help. It's not a bad idea, but yeah, if you use an ESP, and was planning to do something similar for your own email list, they should have automations in place for this.

So funny you write this. I was literally discussing this with my developer yesterday. As @enonevets mentioned you could set-up a drip program BUT that is manual. What if the subscriber starts at day one of your newsletter - or is introduced to the archive automatically. We thought through a process and he is going to code something. I'll test it and report back!

That's great to know! :) Sounds really interesting, excited to see the MVP

There are ESP that have automations that can automate adding subs to your drip campaign either based on sign up or base on actions they take or other events. What’s the use case you were thinking of?
