SaaS Company For Sale?

Please - SERIOUS Inquiries Only

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a couple SaaS companies with MONTHLY revenues between $2K-$100K.

  1. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should be looking? (Indie Hackers, Crunchbase, Angel List, Product Hunt, Reddit)

  2. If anyone knows a company currently looking to sell, please reach me at kellyncs@gmail.com

Thank you for the time.

I know you said you're looking for MRR, but if it's listed on one of these sites, it's probably <insert negative word>. I'd contact developers of quality apps that are under monetized directly. There are a lot of devs who make really amazing products, but are doing so in a very altruistic way. I recently contacted the developer of a Chrome extension that had 1M+ users and was making no money from it.

    Just a thought.

Great suggestion... But where would you find these developers of quality apps? Product Hunt? Would you have another source?

You mentioned you recently contacted the developer of a Chrome extension that had 1M+ users? How did you find that specific developer?

      Thanks.

Just go into the store and look at the semi-popular extensions. Look at the listed name of the developer - is it a company or a person? They all list email addresses. Search for GitHub links! If there's a GitHub link, the developer has open sourced it. They're probably not making any CA$H MONEY beyond the random donations they get.

DO NOT send a mail merge to a bunch of developers. We get that <expletive> all the time. Understand what they're doing and why and give consideration to: 1) They probably don't need the money you're offering. 2) The most value you might be able to provide in taking the thing off their hands is taking a maintenance/support task of their plates.

This just showed up in my newsfeed due to keywords, and this is my first visit to this site. I'm liking what I see and signed up to respond.
I'm a sole founder and going to hit US$100k MRR any day now (we launched 27 months ago), but this is only one-third of the business I want to build. We sell a $30/m product, no upgrades or variations yet. I'm thinking about starting discussions with investors so that we can fulfill the vision because I still feel like we don't have enough manpower to finish building it. That said, why would I want to sell? I might consider 10% at a 10x earnings valuation, because it's highly likely we'll 20x in the next 18mos or negotiate in that range.
Honestly we suck at so many things for growth (like SEO, onboarding, ads, still working on product market fit) so there are huge areas for improvement. We have gaping holes in our onboarding processes and emails. Product wise, there's a list a mile long of things we're innovating to push out a platform that will complement our current service. Etc. If I were to sell and walk away, I honestly feel it would be irresponsible and a disservice and giving up on a massive opportunity.
I think if you're looking for a company to buy, mine would be attractive, but it requires cooperation and hard work, and paying salaries, communicating daily with customers and managing a database with hundreds of millions of records; you can't just buy it and expect it will continue to generate revenue or that you'll pocket 100k every month. We're a very small, effective team, don't work a lot of overtime, but it is a lot of concentrated focus and work. With that said, I think if your expectations are lower then maybe you're not looking for a company in this range of revenue. We're on crunchbase, but literally invisible on most of those kinds of platforms.
