    TLDR:

    1. Make a free version that's hot n' ready for customers
    2. Ride off other free marketing platforms
    3. Get your referral program to spread like wildfire
    4. Repurpose your content into other deliverables
    5. Tap into Quora & Reddit for targeted traffic
    6. Make sure your SaaS product integrates with the most popular apps
    7. Create a competitor comparison page to steal keyword traffic

So short version - make a free version, do content marketing, post on quora and reddit, build integrations, and create a competitor comparison page.

Personally, I am of the view that there is a lot of time, money, and effort involved in creating lead magnets, hosting them on the internet, building landing pages, doing SEO, rolling out marketing campaigns just for those lead magnets, and running PPC Ad campaigns even when the success is not guaranteed. Instead of all that, you can just get a good prospecting tool and search the web for your business prospects and find their contact information.

Aeroleads is a good example of the top prospecting tools as it leverages LinkedIn, Angellist, Crunch Base, and other partner sites for finding contact information of individuals and businesses, which makes it great for both B2B and B2C firms. This tool can produce the contact details of hundreds of prospects when a relevant search query is passed on LinkedIn search, making use of search filters further enhances the quality of the search results in terms of their relevance as prospects. Aeroleads also allows the user to individually select the search results that are believed to have a higher chance of conversion and also has a data verification system in place that ensures the quality of information being extracted from it. This whole process can be carried out by the business firm itself and makes sure that good quality sales intelligence is being generated.

@GregariousHermit, thanks for sharing such an amazing post about SaaS growth hacking!

We also applied most of the techniques for our project churnfree.com, and the best one works well in comparison with your competitors because if you are new, but your competitors are not, they have a good reputation in the market.

You can use their market repo for your brand to get your desired results!

    this technique works very well!

I really like the idea of making a competitor comparison page. It forces you to really consider what you do better and what they do better.

Can you give some examples of free marketing platforms?

Of all the tips, I personally find number 1 and 7 very useful.
Number 1 says: Make a free version that's hot n' ready for customers.
The product that comes to mind is Quillbot, an A.I writing tool. According to similar web, they get 40million+ monthly visits, I wonder why they are not riding on ads for their free version. They would be making a very nice MRR with that alone.

Number 7 says: Create a competitor comparison page to steal keyword traffic.
I’d sure be using this very soon. Thanks OP.

Often articles that start by saying “we’ve got different advise” proceed to then offer the same advise I’ve heard over and over. This was not that.

Enjoyed reading, now need to action. Thanks a lot.

Very nice post. Keep it up. dark when they should be lit up, this is known as a dead pixel. They are more difficult to cure than stuck pixels because this means that the pixel or set of subpixels is no longer powered on. Read this article to know more about dead pixels on android phones.

    Good post.

I'd caution against building a free version of your product though.

The most important thing that startups need to do is to generate paying customers.

Building a free version product just makes it harder to do so. You're just delaying the problem till later.

@GregariousHermit, thanks for sharing I will follow this!

Integrating with other popular tools are really important for growth. I will definately take this approach.

@ ardzehn, Integrations help a lot, BUT building them costs time and/or money.
You got to be careful and not move too far, before having your product hit the road first

I think this shows just how much effort you have to put in if you want your startup to grow. The old adage - build it and they will come - is so last decade. You have to market, market, market, if you want a profitable business. These are great tips for those on low/no budget.

    1. 2

The old adage was always BS anyway :-)

Finally, an actual article that gives actionable tips on growth that do work!!! (If implemented correctly). Great job👍
