SaaS subscription vs in-app purchases

Most of the services I have used (except games) had a subscription monetization model however I'm wondering why don't more SaaS services have in-app purchases? What is in your opinion the correct scenario to use which model and why?

in-app purchases use like a gambling addiction and impulsive tendencies to make money (over simplifing), most money is made from few who spend like it's water (like a casino)

Most SaaS aren't much impolsive, action loaded, time dependent or show off to others... something like social networks can probably make good use of it, I don't think for example b2b can use that with any effectivness... b2c maybe for things which are more impolsive, fun like stuff around image/vid processing... something to show off is a good canidate...

Good thinking. Never thought about intent like this but it makes sense. How about SaaS service that has a purchase per use of a feature? Let's say as an example that you pay 1$ for export. Just a stupid example and besides the service is free.

it used to be more common in data, reporting, news and such a few years back,
seems most moved away from it.
as I said I think the context is important, gaming creates a more impulsive atmosphere and uses other social/brain tricks that were collated as "gamification"
The biggest attempts to use such methods are usually around marketing "product launch"es and live event sales, but that momentum isn't kept after that single event build up, so it's used as a peak sell and dies off for a long while, sometimes repeated years.
To make micro transactions work for SaaS I imagine it has to keep the high energy, immediate satisfaction, dopamine hits... IDK much about stuff like this happening outside of gaming or social...
