Sacrifice - Not Doing What You Love for the Good of a Company?

Hello Indie Hacker's,

I have been doing a lot of soul searching this weekend (Friday evening and Sat. morning) so this post will be riddle with questions as well as some thoughts I have been wrestling with.

As the title suggests, I am currently wrestling with the realization of a few things.

  1. I just got my first tech job after learning to code and changing careers. This took a little less than a year. So I am very early in my coding career.
  2. I'm sure I was naive to assume that I would be able to code in all the ways I wanted to code at the job.

BUT, most importantly,

  1. I've been pondering the question, "What if I am not here initially to get to code to my hearts content? What if I do not get to code to my hearts content at work?"

Then the kicker question,

  1. "What if I am here to help the company develop 🤓 by sacrificing my personal wants for the good of the company?"

I admit freely that I do not like this question but I also admit that asking this question has reframed the way that I think about going in on Monday.

I would love feedback or to hear if you have had a similar experience/what you did?
