Hey Indie Hackers 👋
Last week I shared a recap post of my recent product launch. I swore to myself I wouldn't stoop so low as to do a recap of a recap post... but well here I am 🤷♂️
I'll keep this short though. What I think would be interesting is to compare the sales and traffic numbers from my IH post to how it faired on DEV and Startup School.
Yup, that's right, a day after sharing to IH and realizing how interested people were in my launch story, I decided to post it to a few other communities as well. In all 3 communities it spent a significant portion of a day on the front page.
So here are the results compared:
So first off, I really didn't expect a launch recap article to drive $2712 in sales or even anywhere close to that. That's insane. The other takeaway is holy %&$#?@! do Indie Hackers support other Indie Hackers. Despite IH sending 1/5 the traffic as DEV it resulted in almost twice as many sales. Thank you ❤️
Lastly, I'm really happy I decided to re-post elsewhere. I love IH. It's by far my favorite maker community, but if you've put hours or days into a post you should absolutely consider sharing to other communities as well. That doesn't mean you share every single post everywhere.. but if you've written something you're especially proud of then make sure people see it!
I'd love to hear what your experience has been like when it comes to getting sales from Indie Hackers vs other communities.
Good job Gabe, that's inspiring to hear!
Thank you!
Gabe thanks a lot for sharing your experience, good luck!
