Sales gamification

A friend of mine is working as a sales lead in the telecommunication business. He tried to gamify the sales process manually to increase leads. He built a kind of world cup with the help of excel. Members played against each other from time to time and at the end the person with the most wins, won the tournament and got rewarded.

I was wondering why there is no online tool to automatize the whole process.
I already found out some other games which could be used to gamify the sales process.

What I learned is, that Gamification leads to cheating, can distract sales people who does not perform well.

I can't imaging that companies would pay for a tool like this on a monthly basis, as those games would only start occasionally.
But I'm still not convinced that the idea is bad. 😅

What is your opinion about sales gamification? Maybe you have already played some games in your sales process?

Thank you for your help.

      Wow, this is huge!
But not really intuitive I would say.
But great job, he even has 60 patrons!
So he made more than I will ever do when I don't work on my idea. :)

I'm looking for something like that right now.

I read one very good book and it gaves me a lot of new ideas for my project. Search for it: "Loyalty 3.0." from Rajat Paharia.

For now, i'm starting some tests with a small cohort of leads, measuring if one "Bonus Flag" into our sales system increase the lead conversion.

I like the idea. I know a lot of sales shops have leaderboards to track sales against each other, which is a simplistic kind of simplification.
I think sales people are often pretty competitive and I know I personally love seeing progress on things I’m working on.
