Saturday Stand Up: What will you do today?

What will you accomplish by end of year?
What will you accomplish by end of January?
What did you do yesterday to work toward your goal?
What will you do today?

Given last year and this year quite a bit of thought. I wasn't happy with last year, bouncing from red, shiny ball to red shiny ball without substantive success. And I've decided I don't want more of the same this year.

Instead, this will be the year of learning and deepening my skill set. No more shortcuts for the sake of a MVP. This will be the year that I build for discovery and facility. This will be the year that I build for me.

Given the mission, I've decided to build a todo app. I know, I know. The world doesn't need another todo app. But I've always had a fetish for productivity apps and, as is true for all folk with fetishes, I'm never satisfied with the offerings. So I figured I'll build my own.

The endgame is publishing an app in the Mac app store by end of the year. Doesn't matter if folk buy it though. The process and the app are just for me.

    With that in mind:

What will you accomplish by end of year?

    • I've better command of JavaScript
    • I've better command of AWS
    • I've built the productivity app of my dreams

What will I accomplish by end of month?

    • I'll choose a framework.
    • I'll choose a name.
    • I'll have brainstormed which features will satisfy my productivity fetish.
    • I'll have ERDs.
    • I'll have a game plan.

    What will I do today?

    • Check out Electron.
    • Check out whether Electron has any competitors.
    • Brainstorm a name.
    • Brainstorm features.

Nice! I gave up on Brisa Boards, but I still use and (mostly) love it :-D Definitely nice to have an app for your data that is built yourself.

Also, long time no chat. Hope everything's going well!

        1. 1

Still struggling to build things people actually want haha

But my current project is way more fun at least - https://brisa.io/videos/

I haven't spent much time on this site, but found a really cool group of people through the San Diego indiehackers meetup.

Thanks, @TonyMaguire! I don't know if I'll crack anything. (Grinning) But at least I'll have a todo app I use for more than 5 minutes.

Working on a way to easily setup deal links for https://divjoy.com with custom banner text and adjusted pricing. Would like to start offering special deals to IH and other communities and see how that works out.

    YESTERDAY:

Had an after work dinner event that halted much progress, but thought more about our data model for the WIP API we have

    TODAY:

Update my list of sites to share our products on so we can be more systematic about promotion.

Promote our 1st out of 52 projects for the year http://badger.ink on those sites

Make final touchups on our 2nd project MyWiFiSign http://mywifisign.com so we can make an official release next Saturday

Going to get the API for our 3rd product up and running, would like to see our unfinished site online so my team can see the progress as we go.

Your link for jointribe is pointing to a parked 1&1 page, you sure that is the correct link?
