Cool site! Somewhat related, but I constantly come across podcast hosts, investors, etc. who are looking to find impressive women, so their portfolios, guest lists, etc. aren't 100% dudes. I see it on Twitter all the time. Something like your site might help? Could be a good marketing opportunity.

Got a good amount of signups and paid customers so making sure they integrate with their platform correctly.
Next goal is to start some paid advertising to bring in more traffic now we are feature complete!

Congratulations on the launch @scottramsay! What was your #1 lesson or takeaway from your Product Hunt launch?
Thank you Helen! This is actually my second PH launch believe it or not. The first product is now in hibernation but my advice is to not overthink launching too much. If you have your product at a decent stage and customers already using your product for a couple of months, then you should be ready to show it off to the masses. I say a couple of months as by that point any bugs etc should be ironed out which could negatively impact launch day.
I would highly suggest making sure your promo graphics are well made to stand out from the crowd and adding a list of what makes your product unique in the comments.
A live chat widget is also vital as most folk have a few questions when they convert onto your landing page.

Today I spent some time working with our meetups manage to improve processes around our meetups and the new meetups group. I also fixed a lot of bugs. I've got a ton of gas in the tank, but I'm not sure what I'll spend it on. Possibly improving the website's global search?

P.S. I just noticed that I always want to respond to these when I see them, but then it's a lot of steps and I have a ton to write, so I tell myself I'll come back and post later… but usually don't. 🤔 I wonder if others do the same? I just kept my post short and sweet this time around.
I copy/paste my last update and change my % complete if appropriate, then the yesterday/today items and whatever else. Saves a ton of time on the post creation and keeps me in good format
Yeah I did something similar in the past. But it's a lot of work to ask people to do and most people won't bother. Reducing friction can usually increase conversion rates significantly on the Internet, because typically people are busy and/or lazy.
In this particular case, the friction points are…
1. How long is @Janice's top post?
The more rules I have to read, the less likely I am to read them and comment.
I actually see this a lot on Reddit. There are tons of subreddits where I want to participate, but I don't, because the rules are super long and it's not worth reading them. Part of the reason I don't have rules on IH. But I do understand the need sometimes.
How much work do I need to do to reply to someone else's comment?
I'm way more likely to reply to short-and-sweet comments. If the format requires people to post long comments, then I'm less likely to reply, because I don't have the time. For example, Helen posted a great comment today, but it's super long, and didn't get any responses. Most of the comments that got responses were super short, just 1-2 sentences.
How much work do I need to put in to post a comment myself?
The shorter, quicker, and easier it is for me to comment, the more likely I am to do so. So if I have to track down my last comment and copy-paste just so I can stick to a heavyweight format, I'm likely to pass, especially if I'm feeling busy or pressed for time.
Also, I personally find it very easy to remember what I did yesterday, but it's hard to share my plans for today. Sometimes today's plans don't exist yet, in which case I have to make a plan for today as prerequisite to commenting. That's not always something I'm prepared to do in the moment, so I pass.
So the easiest thing for me, probably, is to just say what I did yesterday, then reply to someone else who said what they did yesterday. 🤷🏾♂️
Are these fair presumptions, @csallen?
( 1 ) A larger quantity is better than a smaller quantity participants; and
( 2 ) Quick hits are as valuable as slow, thoughtful hits.
( 3 ) Creating a sense of investment is not as important as reducing friction.
@helengriffinjr, @davey, @jpusateri and @vimalin: Curious what y'all think...
I tend to dip in and out so I can balance product planning with outside work, so for me these aren't bad. There are some cases where I think the posts are artificially lengthened by repeating things that don't generally go in a stand-up for me. I think you could still get some big thoughts and maybe encourage more discourse by shortening to the three big Scrum questions (with modifications for a group of this type).
What did you do? What do you plan to do? Are you having trouble with something that a fellow IHer might be able to help you with? Then do bigger updates maybe on a weekly basis.
Short and sweet could increase response numbers and encourage interaction better, and the kudos naturally go straight on the comments rather than in your post.
Agreed about artificially long. The problem of not having an actual sprint board for epics and stories. Certainly expect more participation. I suppose we'll see what happens to the percentage who interact. (Smiling) Day One and the only one who garnered points was @csallen.

Perhaps start at the barebones like you've been doing then gradually add things and see what happens after a few days or weeks? e.g. a request to respond to others
I'm happy to go hybrid, I cherish the personal investment and thoughtful hits as much as I appreciate the barebones level of accountability and interaction which can be a good gateway to more

I'd say yes to #1 and #2.
For #3, I think they're both important. I think about this one a lot with IH. If someone writes something really long and doesn't get a reply, it might result in the opposite of them investing in the long run.
What would really be cool for investment would be if I added some sort of streaks feature, but I'm swamped and don't have time to any time soon. But in lieu of that, my guess is people will be more willing to invest in the long term of the cost (friction) of doing so is low?
I'm only a sample size of 1, so the jury is out on whether my experiences will apply to others… but I really do want to post in every single daily standup, and the only thing stopping me is the friction.
