Saving family photos taken on iOS and Android in one place

I've been thinking about this for a few years now and curious if anyone else has felt the pain. I have an Android device and I use Google Photos to save all of my pics. However my wife is a die-hard iPhone user so her photos are stored on iCloud. We frequently take trips together and we both user our cameras quite a bit. When we get back it's on me to download all of the pics on a PC (or a Mac) so we can review our trip on a proper timeline. This is pretty much manual work and Google and Apple's desktop apps really don't encourage my use-case (up until last year iCloud would make you download photos one by one).

Do you think having some kind of automated way of solving for this would be worthwhile?
