SavvyCal is on Product Hunt today!

Believe it or not, I started working on SavvyCal all the way back in March of 2020.

I had just shut down Level a few months earlier after working on it for over a year and, as you’ll remember well, the world had just begun to go into lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

So when I started exploring the idea for my next venture, I came back to a seemingly age-old problem: meeting scheduling.

Why do people still feel weird about sending out their scheduling links?
Looking back at the times when we used to exchange 10 emails to find a time to meet feels like the dark ages. But the scheduling tools of today still put the burden on the recipient, which can be even more inconvenient than trading emails in the first place.

The core thesis I built on was that using a scheduling tool should be just as easy for the recipient as it is for the sender.

And after months and months of work to nail the UX, build truly unique features, and prove that the product lives up to its promise, I’m ready to take it to the next level.

It’s time to officially launch!

    It's visceral. It reminds me of how I have felt with calendly in certain instances. To the point. Just checks all the best practices I have read! well done!

    Congrats on the launch, Derrick. SavvyCal looks awesome! I just signed up to Calendly last night. Guess I'll be testing another scheduler this weekend haha.

    Upvoted! Really impressed with the level of UI polish for just launching - makes sense when UX is the USP :)

    I performed a procurement analysis recently as we needed a scheduling tool for onboarding sessions. I'm curious which groups you're focusing on? Really seemed between all the tools that there was a lot of opportunity for creating differentiating features.

    One feature I'm bummed that no solution had was an out of the box way to get Zoom recordings to the end user - or more abstractly, simple "followup" tasks. Bonus points if the followup tasks were basically collecting various related data and sending it to a webhook once all is ready:

    • attended (bool)
    • meeting recording (url)
    • meeting recording password (string)

    Would then empower user to do a lot in customer.io and similar tools. It's one of these things that I could build out with a generalized automation tool but would have opted for a streamlined feature within a scheduling solution.

    ^Above idea is just my 0.02 cents. Not sure which target demos you're pursuing but wish you luck on the journey - looks like an exciting space with lots of potential to study underserved groups and go after them 🚀

      That's an interesting use case! Currently, our target market is primarily founders/entrepreneurs booking 1-on-1 meetings with folks. But we are quickly going to start opening up more team functionality (collective & round-robin group links, good for customer success/support teams and perhaps sales).

      For the Zoom recording workflow, can you tell me a bit more about that use case? Is it so both parties (the host and guest) both end up with a copy of the recording?

    Great tool honestly, wish I could convert my entourage to use it, without your entourage around it the most useful feature (overlapping cals) becomes just calendly++!

      Thanks! In case this is what you were picturing, your entourage would not actually need to have paid accounts to overlay their calendars on your booking links :)

        They would need to sign-up tho - right?

          To overlay, there's a brief OAuth flow with Google Calendar (but no other account setup is required).
