SayScribe — a privacy-first meeting recorder that keeps everything on your device

Hey IH! I've been building productivity tools for a while and just shipped SayScribe, a meeting recorder and AI notes app for iPhone.

The problem: Every meeting app I tried wanted me to create an account and store my recordings on their servers. After reading about the Otter.ai data lawsuit, I decided to build something different.

What it does:

  - Records meetings, lectures, interviews

  - Transcribes with speaker identification

  - Generates summaries, action items, meeting minutes, and follow-up emails

  - Action Tracker dashboard to manage tasks across all your meetings

  - Car mode for hands-free recording on your commute

What makes it different:

  - No account required — ever

  - No cloud storage — everything stays on your iPhone

  - Audio is deleted immediately after processing

  - Your data is never used to train AI models

Business model: Free tier with 3 recordings/day. Paid subscriptions for power users who need longer recordings and advanced features.

Currently live on the App Store in 164 countries. iPad and Mac are on the roadmap.

Would love any feedback — on the app, the positioning, the pricing, anything. Happy to answer questions about the build too.

SayScribe
  1. 1

v1.1.3 just went live; readability and UX polish

Shipped a round of improvements based on accessibility testing:

    • WCAG contrast fixes across the entire app

    •  Better typography sizing for readability

    •  Smarter duplicate detection for action items (5 comparison options)

    •  Personalized greetings; the app learns your name

Small things, but they add up. Building something you'd actually want to use every day matters more than shipping flashy features.

It's been a long road. I'd love any feedback.
