Just a heads up that the new SCA regulations probably don't apply to you unless you are doing EU -> EU transactions. Seems a lot of people are getting confused about this.
Stripe currently states (https://stripe.com/docs/strong-customer-authentication):
"Prepare for SCA and update your Stripe integration if all of the following apply:
Your business is based in the European Economic Area (EEA) or you create payments on behalf of connected accounts based in the EEA
You serve customers in the EEA
You accept cards (credit or debit)"
Importantly it says to only prepare for SCA if ALL of the statements apply.
Thought that might help people 🙌🏼
Im a bit confused, a few articles say that it's based on merchant's payment provider and the user and not the merchants location, so shouldn't stripe users be impacted? Nonetheless, stripe has most likely gone through the regulation thoroughly and thus should be more trustworthy.
Either way, to only apply it to EU business would heavily limit the touted reason for SCA while at the same time hampering only EU businesses. Seems really contradicting to only apply it to EU businesses.
This is some good information. For anyone that SCA does apply to, we at servicebot.io are releasing support for SCA through Stripe's guidelines on September 14th.
