Scale8 - An open-source, privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager

By default Scale8 will completely anonymise your visitors. We don't track them at all. Installing 3rd parties via our tag manager (injecting someone else's script) could void that, but that is also why included web analytics and JS error tracking with our product. For the vast majority of publishers this is everything they require and also compliant with privacy legislation.

Hi @zerotousers, we built a tag management platform at the core. It is probably similar to Adobe's offering with events, conditions, exceptions sitting within rules and rule groups, but draws some parallels with Google Tag Manager.

The tag manager is completely event driven and designed for all modern browsers. It makes use of all the latest browser APIs :)

We've also included some extra features like Action Group Distributions for AB testing actions. This uses the privacy-friendly approach to unique user detection when selecting a session group.

Scale8 is open-source, so not only can users contribute to the core functionality, but we've also made it so new platforms can be built and used in the Tag Manager. Everything sits under revision control, so you can upgrade to the latest version of the platform without worrying about a platform developer making a cascading breaking change.

A full list of features can be found on our website, although I think we need to showcase what we have built a bit more than what we have.

Hi @kingcrimson, we've just gone live with the commercial version, so as of today, just $10 MRR. We'll be documenting our journey and posting regular updates as we grow :)

Hi Andy, Scale8 is absolutely free to host yourself. We thought about offering a free tier for the commercial version and potentially also making it free for charities, but at this point we haven't introduced that. We do however a free 30 day trial with no credit card being required.

For the self-hosted version we'll be releasing some Terraform scripts soon with support for various cloud configuration options.
