Like many developers and designers, I started Stack Five as a freelance contractor.
But my goal was to build a team.
One that was passionate about making great products with cutting-edge technology.
I wanted to create a culture of excitement around bringing innovative digital products into the world!
But I had one problem. I didn't know how to scale past one.
The last few years have been a journey and I've learned a lot along the way.
Including what it takes to make that scary leap and hire our first full-time employee. We've had many milestones since, including:
→ $1.5M+ in revenue
→ Growing to 6 full-time employees + multiple contractors
→ Landing global brands like adidas, Reebok, and Salesforce as clients
Our achievements aren't astonishing or exponential, but I am very proud of the last 4 years.
Particularly because I was very opinionated about HOW I wanted to grow a business.
I refused to sacrifice my health and family time by working 60-80+ hour weeks (although I did give in to this for a time)
I wanted to be 100% remote from the start.
I wanted to build a culture, which meant full-time employees over contractors (this was the hardest).
So, now I'd like to help others (like myself in those early days) that are struggling to scale their development agency past one.
I'm happy to answer any questions, share any information, or just be a general sounding board if you need it!
