After several months of development and refinement, my mobile app, Scan2Sheet, is finally published and live on Apple Store and Play Store.
Originally, the idea for the app is to solve a problem that I had - keeping messy pile of receipts to track expenses for my tax deductions. It is time-consuming and error-prone to manually copy data from receipts into spreadsheets, not to mention it is easy to loose or miss the paper receipts. With Scan2Sheet, simply capture a photo of any receipt whenever you make a purchase and in just few clicks, the data as well as a receipt image are saved directly into your own Google Sheets documents. Minimal manual typing and no extra dashboard or table are required.
The app is free to start using and after 10 receipts are scanned, it has a subscription-based payment model for just $4.99/month.

I hope other people also find the app is useful and I am happy to hear any thoughts and feedback.
Congrats on launching this, Tony.
The product is clear, but I think the positioning could be sharper than “receipt scanner to Google Sheets.”
The strongest buyer probably is not someone who generally wants expense tracking. It is someone who already lives in spreadsheets and hates losing tax-deduction proof: freelancers, contractors, consultants, small business owners, or gig workers.
For them, the pain is less “scan receipts” and more:
“Stop losing deductible expenses because receipts are scattered across paper, email, photos, and wallets.”
That makes the 10-free-scan model easier to judge too. I’d watch whether users hit the paywall after scanning real tax/business receipts, not random test receipts. If the first 10 scans feel like actual recovered deductions, $4.99/month feels much easier to justify.
Happy to put a tighter version in writing if useful. The main thing I’d map is the first buyer segment, launch angle, paywall timing, and a simple plan to get the first paying users.
Great point of view. Thanks for the feedback Aryan. I have close to 200s downloads and 4 paying customers so far. What I have observed is that for those made the purchase, they didn't even need to use the 10 free receipt scans. They immediately subscribed to the paid plan and scanned hundreds of receipts within hours. The rest just checked it out and scanned 1 or 2 receipts and stop using right away. So it is either hit or miss after the first try.
You're probably right about targeting someone who is already tracking on spreadsheets (or even Google Sheets). Your messaging angle of stop losing deductible expenses is exactly my own use case for Scan2Sheet. I will definitely test anchoring the app and the landing page around that pain points. But I would love to see what you can come up with for learning from each other.
Appreciate the context, Tony.
Would be good to continue the conversation and compare notes as you learn more from paying users.
