Scratching my own itch and starting a lean startup
Hi there, Ruben here 👋
A few weeks ago I posted an article on how I build 3 products which resulted in 1 itsy bitsy little win and 2 giant losses. I learned 2 big lesson from those projects:
- I didn't validate my idea properly
- I failed to build an MVP
With that said, I have another project I want to start but I want to take a different approach with it and I wrote an article about :)

I am a big fan of this approach.
Something that you find useful makes it easier to be motivated and you probably know more about it.
And lean, which when you read about it just makes sense, following it is not a easy as it sounds :)

But you’re right. Trying to build an mvp so much easier said than done. It’s really easy for me to go through this rabbit hole off tacking on features.

The MVP has some challenges, like how much value do you need to deliver to be considered viable. But I am referring to the entire lean approach.
For example you setup a landing page to test a value proposition, you drive some traffic... but what is a conversion rate that indicates the experiment is a pass/fail?
By the way, not suggesting you should not follow lean, just don't get paralyzed by the huge number of uncertainties you may face :)
By different approach, do you mean that this time around, you are working on a project that scratches your own itch?

Yes and and also my marketing strategy game. One of my different approach is that I’m going to start marketing before even building to gather some information. I’m exicted to start this.

YES, great idea! I'm behind the curve to start marketing beforehand...if you start now, you'll be in a much better position WHEN you do launch.
