Search tool for finding accessible destinations and what's required for travel

As vaccines are rolled out around the world, unrestricted travel will soon be deemed safe once again. Many travelers have been in and out of lockdown for over a year and looking to finally take that sorely needed vacation, see loved ones, and get back out into the world. Only, they’re running into new restrictions and procedures. At this point, they’re having to decipher not only where they can travel, but what’s required.

Given these challenges, at Airheart, we’ve made it our mission to help people travel again, safely. Starting with uncomplicating travel restrictions and policies for both international and domestic borders.

Through the site, hopeful travelers can see which destinations are accessible based on their country of origin, and filter out locations by given criteria – whether it’s quarantine, a negative COVID-19 test, or a mask requirement. See what life is like on-location at your destination before you travel - including if shops, restaurants, and activities are open. Save routes, and stay up-to-date when policies change.

Airheart’s data comes from trusted and official sources, then further enriched and organized into a searchable, scannable format to put travelers at ease when navigating this new normal.

This is just the beginning. Our long-term vision at Aitheart is to make organizing travel enjoyable, the way you envision it. Airheart is a trip-planning playground for people to plan solo or with a group. Deliberate on the plans you’re deciding on. Then, once booked, itineraries will be shared automatically, so everyone stays up-to-date. Reach peace of mind knowing that the tedious parts of organizing travel have been done for you.

Who are we? We’re a team of travel enthusiasts who are product-obsessed. We have deep technology backgrounds and expertise in building and running companies.

Ivan Vanderbyl (CPO) and I traveled for four years together and several years individually before that. We were ‘digital nomads’, you could say. During this time, we experienced the excitement of traveling and visiting a new place, but planning each move took up an inordinate amount of our precious time. In a world where we’ve optimized our lives heavily, this was still an inefficient process. We noticed our friends and colleagues experiencing the same issues, and ultimately this kept a lot of trips from happening. We figured there has to be a better way.

Fast forward to the beginning of 2020, we were seriously considering launching Airheart and then the pandemic hit. We teamed up with Arie Litovsky along the way and together realized just how helpful a tool for organizing travel would be during these increasingly complicated times. Now more than ever, travelers are looking for extra guidance and support.

So, we dropped everything to launch Airheart.

The backend is hosted on Google Cloud, written in Go using the Ent Go project (https://entgo.io/) as well as 99design/gqlgen to generate our GraphQL API. We also use Cloudflare as our CDN.

Our back-end is written in go, using the entgo framework (https://entgo.io/) and 99design/gqlgen to generate our GraphQL.

We host everything on Google Cloud and use Cloudflare as a CDN.

I am located in Texas, while Lindsey and Ivan are in Australia. The time difference can definitely be a challenge at times, but it's also allowed us move really quickly.
