Ideally, you're managing a small software team and you're using GitHub.
However, Sigmetic can also be a great help for you that is working solo.

I'm not your target market but I would like to share 2 things.
Thing 1. Don't offer it for free forever. It's a new product and you're trying to get new users in to give you feedback but don't promise free forever. 1. Because it makes the product seem very cheap or not valuable that it'll be forever free. 2. As the creator of the product if you say forever free, then you'll never charge revenue. Is this idea for profit?
Thing 2. Probably don't ask about would they pay for it. For the simple fact that they will lie to you. The better way to understand this (I think) is to just charge them for it. The customer is faced with the same problem (uh oh, now I have to pay, do I really want this?) and you may make some money.
Is Sigmetic like JIRA for Github?
Maybe check us out if we sound interesting. We're Berlocks.com - we keep founders accountable to build a quick mvp, find customers, and charge revenue.

It makes a lot of sense.
As far as point one goes, this choice is very deliberate.
We are more than willing to offer a small group of users an account for free, in the expectation that we get some great feedback in return.
So far, these groups of beta-users have been incredibly generous with feedback, even though we don't run an official pilot program or "demand" feedback in return.
I believe the ROI on this is enormous, given that we get an amazing amount of data to work with - it's making the product mature faster and ultimately generate revenue faster.
Your point two makes a lot of sense!
Probably asking people if they think it's worth paying for will give a "disillusioned" impression on our side, when we analyze these answers.
