Seasons Journaling: Update & Upcoming Release

Going to try and post regularly now that we are committed to having shorter release cycles. Would love to hear from the IH community!

It has been exciting to see people continue to download the app, create journals, write and even occasionally invite others to start group journals. Some of our early metrics are promising (funnel analysis & daily retention, App Store CVR), but it has become apparent that many people try our app for a few days to a week, only to stop after that. Hopefully I can hear directly from our users and see what we could do to make the app better, but we also have some of our own ideas for features that might help. First, we are working on an "affirmations" feature that allows users to send an encouraging message to themselves (via push notification). Second, we are also making use of Apple’s UIEventKit to help users create calendar events so they can set aside time for journaling. We hope that these features help people stick to their goals and journaling habits. I haven’t quite been as productive as I would have liked recently, but with any luck our v1 of these features will be released within the week!

As far as user acquisition goes, it's good to know that we can get downloads using Apple Search Ads, especially to collect data at this early stage. I'm also using our own app to document the building process in a group journal with my co-founders. This content is retrieved from the same API and displayed as a blog on our website, and I'm beginning to use similar versions of the content to post from our twitter account and of course here on Indie Hackers as a way of being lean. Hoping this plants some seeds for future user acquisition channels.
